i like the Tenacious "as is," and am excited about the arrival of the Persistence, but would like to see a fixed blade Tenacious. i think the size and shape are ideal for a fixed blade. it doesn't appear that it would be expensive to produce. i think it could be a great intro for those not willing to spend a lot of cash on a fixed blade.

that is just my opinion, which tends not to be a popular one.
anyway, i would buy at least 1 each in PE, CE, and SE.

disregard if similar post has already been submitted!

First off let me say that I am having a hard time liking liner locks. With that said, this is an exceptional knife for the price, or a higher price. It opens smoother than some of my higher end Spyderco's. You can tell when you get it in your hand that there was much thought to the design. It's (IMHO) a must have.

Ditto on the fixed blade Tenacious. That would rock!

I just got my tenacious and even after a few days I love it. It definitely feels a lot more expensive than it was. This is now my "first Spydie" recommendation when someone asks what their intro knife should be.

I like the tenacious as it is. I like the way that I can get it hair splitting sharp in a few strokes. If I want a better steel, I'll buy another model. Thanks Sal, for the variety that you have available to us. I am also still waiting for my persistence which I know will be different but as good as the tenacious. :)

I like the Tenacious. It has Sprint written all over it. I'll take a S90V or XHP Tenacious with White Micarta Scales. :D

At first I was thinking M4 because of all the China and Bradley comments, but the Tenacious says China on it and the Bradley says Taiwan.

It really seems odd to me that only 8Cr13MoV and 9Cr18Mo can come out of China. They really need a premium steel.

If the final price of the Tenacious went up to $150, I doubt anyone would choose it over the Military or Para unless there were other changes made.

The Tenacious line already is so darn good, it seems almost churlish to ask for more. My Persistence has smoother operation and better lockup than some of its more expensive cousins.

That said, whatever happened to work on the 9Cr18Mo steel?

How is that better than the current steel?

I thought 9cr18 is more like 440c and not much of an improvement over 8cr13?

The 9Cr18mo Mule was released a few months ago. I haven't heard anyone say it was a great steel, the descriptions I've read make it sound similar to 8Cr13MoV.

Oh you didn't hear? They made that knife.

It was the Blue sprint Manix2. :)

The Tenacious is awesome but the Sprint M2's blow them out of the water. The Sage 1 is only about $90 and comes with a FFG S30v blade too.

Manix2 is a good knife, but it is not the Tenacious. I'll be waiting for a new Tenacious with new steel and perhaps it will be happen...

I lost out on a Tenacious on the 'bay that had been fitted with ORANGEG10 scales that were the BOMB! I kick myself for not bidding more for that knife. I would buy an Orange Sprint Run for sure!

I have to agree with Sal that the Tenacious is a good intro knife. It was my first Spydie and I still love it. If it was double the price I never would have bought it. Now I'm buying Spydies triple the price :D

I've also wished for an upgraded steel as well but again the price goes up. I'm trying to get my hands on some good orange G10. I bought some from a Canadian dealer but wasn't very happy with the samples. It's too bad different colours couldn't be made for the Ten.

I'd also like to see a Tenacious with more "premium" materials. Maybe a sprint run or something.

There are a lot of people that are all talk when it comes to these ideas. How many would put their money where their mouth is and actually pay ~$150 for a souped up Tenacious? I'm guessing maybe a handful at best.

For me, I appreciate the Tenacious for what it is: an excellent entry level knife at a very attractive price.

I'm also a car enthusiast and see it all the time. Someone buys a base model of a car, say a V-6 mustang. The person then spends many times the difference between the price of a V-6 and a V-8 to make their base model car perform as well as the top shelf model. In the end, they may finally end up getting the power to equal the premium model, but there are still lots of other things lacking like brakes, suspension ETC.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you want the premium model, buy the premium model and enjoy it instead of trying to make the base model into something its not.

I thought about that as well. I think that's a great idea. Maybe even a sprint model, say around a 1000 with orange scales and CTS-XHP steel. I would go for it.
