Hey Kristi, I know the site still says you can't ship to a P.O. box, but I know that USPS does.
Does the switch to USPS for international shipping mean you can ship to P.O. boxes?

How long is the blade? Same as the first version of the Mule on the Spyderco webstie? :)

From what I understand all the Mules will have the same shape and dimensions. The ONLY difference between the first run and all subsequent runs is that the size of the holes in the tang have been changed to diameter which matches a standard size bolt to make scale installation easier.

Here are some Mule 1 dimensions if that helps. Note Deacon's post regarding hole size and location changes or Mule 2.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but...
It says Rc 58-63, does this mean different portions of the knife will hve different Rc?
Or different knives will have a completely different Rc over the whole knife than other knives?
Please explain this to me.
And BTW thank you to Sal, Kristi for this oppurtunity to try the best steels at a affordable price.

This is like a 17% Carbide steel, it will not be easy to sharpen...Take Care...Ed

But Ed, the Crucible write up says it will be relatively easy.... :eek:
About CPM®-M4:
CPM-M4 is a high-speed, wear resistant, tool steel. It is non-stainless steel. Its high content of Molybdenum and Tungsten gives it a fine grain size, greater strength, hardness and toughness. It is a triple temper heat treat to make it as tough as possible without brittleness. The grinding combined with the triple temper heat treating process can cause warping up to 50 thousandths (.050) of an inch which is not enough to affect the performance of the knife. CPM-M4 will provide high edge retention and impact resistance with an Rc of 58-63, you’ll also find it’s relatively easy to sharpen.
It's just what I've always wanted: Super Hard, Super tough, Super wear resistant, and easy to sharpen

Is anyone else thinking about coating the blade?
(Do not believe it comes coated)
I am already picking out scales, but this one might rust up in a heart beat.
Most M4 seems to be coated.
Thoughts?

Does anyone know if this stuff takes a nice patina? The 52100 looks great with a patina.

I sure don't have a mule yet but I do have an M4 folder. It's easier IMO than S90V to sharpen on the sharpmaker. Diamonds doesn't find vanadium carbides a problem, but all in all, to me, it's more like M2, or CPM 154cm, than S90V.
It responds well to stropping. like M2, CPM 154cm, etc. Just my opinion. Joe
