OK, Starling, I get it now--you were being sardonic. Forgive my earlier density; I should have known better than to try schooling the Agent.
At any rate, I agree with you. I think the Tenacious is an attractive, very well designed Byrd.

hey Bolstermanic...you know I'm being facetious, as always, i hope :) ...for Spyderco's sake I hope the Tenacious does well...whatever my personal take on it may be... :D

I can't wait to get one and I might buy some for my 2 sons. At $30 each they would be hard to beat from what I've seen. I love and have a few of the higher end Spydercos and am glad to see a well made knife at a great price. I can keep my nicer ones in the safe and use the Tenacious without the remorse that comes with using a $100 plus knife.

Just got my SE Tenacious yesterday and I like it. Alot. I haven't put it through any serious paces yet, but it's riding in my BRP today (BG-42 in FRP, SE Tasman IWB, Laguiole clipless in FRP).
Initial thoughts are that it feels just about perfect in the hand - even without a choil. It fits my medium hands really nicely. It has a hefty, solid feel to it without being heavy. The G-10 isn't as aggressive as "regular" Spyderco G-10, but grippy nonetheless. Liner lock is thick and locks up solidly with no blade play in any direction. Action is nice and smooth opening and closing. The coarse jimping on the spine and liner lock are nice too. Not as coarse as the old Millies/Paras, but not nearly as fine as the other new gen Spydercos. I opted for the full SE simply because I don't have much in the way of SE blades that are not curved. It sliced up the USPS box it came in with ease and then still shaved hair off my arms. I also like the 4-way clip and have changed it to tip up from the factory-configured tip down. It also works very well as a lefty knife.
I heartily agree with those who have already said this is one heckuva bargain for a quality Spyderco knife. I personally like it and may have to get one in PE just because... :D

In my personal opinion... NOTHING GOOD EVER CAME OUT OF CHINA! In the last hundred years or so anyway. They may have invented gun-powder and chop-sticks... but that was a long time ago. We need to cut off china all together and stick to the countries that are willing to make an effort to bring us good quality merchandise.
Hey! I've got a really innovative idea... Lets open more Factories up right here in our own Great Country! Boost the economy, create much needed jobs for those who aren't fortunate enough to afford going to College, and bring back the pride of seeing that MADE IN AMERICA stamped on the side of our products.
WE keep going like were going and its only a matter of time before the only thing made in America will be our children. An entire Country of Consumers with out the Art of production in their Blood. Completely Dependant on Everyone else... How does that sound?

Darn tooten it's a byrd.Nothing that comes out of China can qualify for Spyderco status.I like my Byrd's though, and own a Catbyrd,finch,and crossbill.I would never confuse any of those China knives with a real Spyderco from Seki or Golden.They just aren't in the same league.The giveaway, is if it says, 8Cr13MoV on the blade.If it does it is a Spydie Byrd, all the way from China, to your Walmart, nearest you.

My collector Tenacious is an OK knife, but in my opinion, not a real Spyderco.
Came with a chip out of the tip of the blade, as if dropped on the floor.
It will stay in its box as part of my collection. I wish that Spyderco could stick to the premium corner of the knife business, but maybe these times are just not friendly to niche markets.

Sal explained about the Tenacious already. Many of us here own natives and delicas and enduras, all of which are relatively low-cost knives sold in retail stores, the bread and butter of Spyderco, all of which I am sure help Spyderco keep giving us the more radical stuff your everyday user is not going to buy. I own a few 8Cr13MoV blades, and they are great. I am very happy with the performance of the knives, and I think that your average user will be very happy with the knife. I have not handled one yet, but with the Spyderco name on it, I am sure that it is a quality knife which will start the obsession for a few other users.
I am not a fan of things made in China, and I'm trying to avoid many things made there, but I want a flight, crossbill, g10 cara cara, raven, tenacious, and catbyrd...Byrd quality is amazing for the price....
