There was one event where I brought the 400 2.8, 300 2.8, 200 1.8, 135 2.0, 70-200 2.8, 24-70 2.8, and 1D, 20D, and 10D with me. Oh, and had to park 1/2 mile from the event while carrying all that, plus a tripod and camera bag, in one trip. Was not happy about that

so....grand total was somewhere in the 40-45 pounds range, 2/3 that hanging off my neck...lol

When I'm shooting telephoto, I really do consider a 70mm a wide lens. For when I'm not shooting sports/wildlife, then I do have some ultra-wides - including the 15mm fisheye and 16-35/17-40/24-70

Ever thought of hiring a Sherpa, or a donkey for your luggage requirements :) ROFL !!!

I like the wideangle lenses a lot but sometimes I find some 'blooming' in the corners to be a bit distracting, unless I am shooting 'moodier' landscapes, or fisheye work where you really can't help it too much. 15mm I don't have, too pricey for my blood, and because I only do photography for fun I cannot justify the cost as it will neer ever pay itself off :p Yourself on the other hand can write everything off as a tax deduction due to your job Somecreative accounting, and voila, new gear, 'related' gear (like a new car etc :D )

looks like you're doing **** well without one beautiful shots - looks like you've got a lot of luck that I never seem to get :p . I wish I could find some of this wildlife in NJ. Best thing I have to look forward to now (winter) is raptor migration (usually very high in the air, poinless for me to even try), and then bald eagles along rivers as rivers up north start freezing over. I hope that I can find some eagles a little closer than they were last year when my friend and I went looking.

I got the 400 2.8 because I was shooting sports. I figured I could 'justify' it (and use it for wildlife too :D .) I figured with a teleconverter, it's close enough to a 600 f/4 that I wouldn't need anything longer. (Just like after a few Spydercos, I'll be set and won't need any more! ) I got the 300-800 earlier this year for a higher quality images without using a teleconverter, but now, I'm looking at a 600 4 or 500 4 for the lower light abilities (and much lighter weight of the 500 4). Now canon just announced an 800 5.6 IS, which is tempting...

I suggest fredmiranda.com over dpreview, but that's me. The forum over there is huge, and there are people of all levels who post over there. They also have a buy and sell section where you can buy some used gear for a lot cheaper than new. I've saved thousands by buying gear there....

I'm a press photographer, not to mention shoot for fun. I shoot a Canon 1DIIN and 20D currently. I've got glass from 15 to 800mm before teleconverters. I'm mostly a fan of supertelephoto lenses and shoot wildlife for fun, my favorite subjects are raptors. To most people, a walkaround lens is something like a 24-70 or 28-200...mine is usually a 29" long 300-800mm f/5.6, which wheighs in at just under 14 pounds. 70mm is a wideangle to me

could be a combinations of many factors. camera settings, lens, curve adjustments. in this particular photo, i didnt do much to to it via photoshop, so i would say its the camera settings that i use.

I just got into photography this year, and I've got a Canon G7, and a Olympus E-330 body, with 11-22mm, 50mm macro, and 50-200mm lenses. I'm probably going to pick up a new E-3 body and 12-60mm lens sometime in the next year. And I'm going to have my Canon G7 converted to a dedicated infrared camera.

Nice setup anthonyc, love the manfrotto ! and I really need to get myself one of those flash covers. I tend to bounce light off ceilings rather than diffusing it (I do a lot of internal real estate photos).

Will V, I really love that photo of the birds....so crisp and colours so vibrant ! I really like architectural shots too, being an architect myself I really appreciate volumes, space, lines and light....absolutely fabulous !

Sports Illustraed or Playboy ? :D Though sports photography is one of my favourites as is nature photography. Both very instantaneous....blink and you'll miss the shot of the century ! Really makes you work for your keep

There are some great pictures here as well as some great gear!!
I have just taken the plunge into the dSLR domain. I still have my Canon S3 which is what really got me started, but I just picked up a Sony A100. I still just have the kit lens (18-70) but will be getting a telephoto soon. I have been having a lot of fun with this camera.

Fantastic shots. I invested in a Canon EOS Rebel dSLR due to the number of knives I photograph for my web-site. What a difference!! A couple of my fav knife pics.....
