Dovo straight razor, brush and soap.
After shaving I use alum, then after shave.
Best shave I ever had. :D

I shave about once or twice a week :o

Sometimes in 2 steps: First I shave electric and after that I remove the remaining stubs(?) with a Wilkinsons III savety razor(dry)

When in the shower and wanting to shave I do it with a savety razor. I never use shaving cream or something

Electric Philips and aftershave.

If I feel for a wet shave, disposable cheapos or the old classic double edged razor tool.

guys implies both. while yes it means males, it is taken as the entire group. If I was to say Hi, Guys, it is not just saying hi to the males here, it is saying Hi to everybody.

During my working week (which is 4-6 days dependant on what roster I'm on), I shave using a Mach 3. Used to use Turbos, but considering the price to benefit difference, I go with the plain Mach 3s.

When I don't have to run out the door however, I have a Dovo straight razor.

Irrespective of when I'm shaving, I apply a little shaving oil first, then a layer of Faulding Shaving Cream, the type from a tube, using an English badger hair brush. Call me extravagant if you will, but it makes things so, so much smoother and provides a cleaner shave.

Finish with Nivea lotion, and Bulgari or cKone cologne.

Straight razor, unfortunately one with a disposable blade, since there's no such thing (as far as I can see) as a "mid-range" straight razor, and I'm too chicken and broke to go and fork out $300 (pus more for the strop) for a good one. I'm not too sure about my sharpening skills either.

Some day, some day...

Gillett Mach III with Edge shaving gel (I hate the foam). Though after reading these posts, I would like to try some shave soap.

Any other recommendations besides Proraso?

Thanks.

Straight razor for me. I have a very old one, it's rusty, but it shaves better than a Gillette Mach 3 or an Philips Philishave. I really enjoy shaving with the thing, it's so cool to do. More work than a normal Gillette, but so much nicer :D
I think sometime I will buy a new one, if I can find an affordable one. The only ones I found are very expensive :(

After reading this thread I did a little Googling and came across this site - http://www.shavemyface.com ...I'm sure some of you might have already came across this site but I had no idea they had a huge forum just on shaving. They even post videos of different shaving techniques. And I thought we were fanatics...lol! :p

Vincent--
Great setup you've got already, and I use some of those shave creams as well. That's a Gillette Fatboy, right? Mine's a F1 -- Q1 1960.

I love it! It really has become another hobby/obsession for me. I like to think it is an obvious outlet for a knife knut. :D

Right on!

I've always wanted to try a straight razor, but I'm afraid I'd need to put a bucket under my face to catch all the blood that would likely be spewing forth.
With the safety, you really have to use a different technique -- much less pressure, and use beard reduction (multiple passes) to get a smooth, irritation-free shave.

While nicks are part of the learning with a straight, you'll stop well short of serious injury. The focus you'll have on using a straight razor negates the prospect of decapitation. ]Also, I had acne pretty bad when i started shaving and was afraid i would do catastrophic damage with a razor.[/quote]
Actually, a lot of guys improve their complexion -- reduce their acne -- using a double-edge safety razor.

Absolutely on it being nicer! eBay is one way to get some decent razors (some even shave-ready) for less money. Drop me a PM if you want some leads on getting some razors at decent prices -- no matter what level of quality you're looking for.

Too true! Although, I still get slightly twitchy when shaving near my neck, I keep on thinking about the large blood vessels and the windpipe just under that area.

I usually just buzz it off with a trimmer but when I shave shave I use a fusion with edge gel. But like some of you, after reading this. Im going to check out this proroso stuff.

I tried using a quattro before after my brother told me it was the ****...
It ended up ginsuing my epidermis. I think it was the wires pinching my skin under them and slicing off my face. Bad bad time with that razor.

In the shower with a Persona brand razors from Wal-Mart. The 10 pack of the razors I use cost a buck twelve.
