Very Few Others

Post by Hannibal Lecter »

I seem to gravitate heavily towards the Spyderco line, generally only obtaining other blades that Spyderco does not produce something similar to.

Cold Steel Ti-Lite
Cold Steel Arc Angel
Benchmade BM42

I have a couple of others, such as a Boker pocketknife and a couple of "hunting" fixed blade knives for grunt work.

I should probably make a list of all of my Spyderco knives, but I am afraid if my LSW saw it she would go into meltdown... :p

Just can't get enough of the Spydies...

Absolutely :D I try to add a folder every 2 to 3 weeks depending on funds, direction I want to go, etc. It started kinda funny....I bought a CRKT Mirage about 3 years ago (about the time I started making knives) and it was actually my first "quality" type knife. As I learned more (forums....what can I say :) ), I started collecting in two streams - the day to day "standards", Bucks, Gerbers, etc. and then collaborations, of course, CRKT being very big there. And then, there are the new steels/supersteels and in looking, Spydies seem to give the best bang for the buck if you want to "try" one without breaking the bank. I wasn't going to get the Delica, and just wait to get enough money to get one of the higher end ones, but....... I forgot to add the Ka-Bar/Dozier folding hunter...it has an FRN handle it once it wore in a bit, it was actually quite comfortable, so I bit the bullet and bought the Delica. I himmed and hawed about this for a bit...I had just ordered BM Mini-Grip and Buck Northshore and then customs seized them and it was so long since a bought a blade..... :D Actually, it was only a couple of weeks...I just bought a Xikar Explorer (another one that just came to mind....)

I'm hoping to get another Spydie shortly, probably in the next few weeks....perhaps an S30V one, don't know yet..... I'm getting leary of bringing stuff across the border now, so it may be a little longer betweeen purchases. It would be so nice if the retailers here stayed a little closer to the US price and they could get stock earlier. I don't know what it's like in your area, but here in Calgary, it seems to take anywhere from 4 to 8 months for a new model to show up. My CKRT/Lake PAL was bought in Calgary just before Xmas and it's been out ...how long? AND I paid a lot for it..I think the old exchange rate... around $120 CDN before GST. I'll be competing in the North American 8 ball championship in mid-May in Vegas and my objective there is to pick up an Al-Mar Sere 2k while I'm there, and depending on what else......... My Delica was pretty close to the US list, exchange and a "little bit", about $70.00 CDN , which was acceptable enough to support the local guys.

sorry for rant - gord

Everything is pretty much Spyderco. I bought two junk knives many years ago, one a S&W that the liner lock works like half the time, and the other is some really cheap tanto style Chinese knock off that I broke the tip on.

Of the non-junk I own a few Vic SAKs and a BM 806D2, I had to try out the AXIS  . I really want a CRK Mnandi with Chocobolo inlays... too bad that'll never happen.
