Well I got two new Mules in, one just in today. Today I got a ZDP-189, bevels all over the place on this blade. So, I figure I just check this blade out on the hone.

This ZDP-189 is no joke, it's some kind of hard. I spent the better part of two hours getting the bevels true'd up to 15 dps. All I can say is wow, it's just like M398 in this respect.

Now we see if it holds the edge well. I really like to hone a new blade a couple times before passing judgment, so we will see on this one.

The other new Mule I got in is a K294 and it's just pretty hard itself. I have these two all honed and ready to see what they got, time will tell...

First home made scales: fat copper carbon. Not perfect and not finished.

I would, but one Mule is boring, and the other sits in a box awaiting scales.
The first has the Spyderco scales. Looks boring, but feels great in the hand, and the K294 works very well.
The second is an AEB-L. I have a couple blocks of burlap micarta, but work won't leave me alone. Someday, I'll have the time to carve them.
I still want a new Magnamax SE.

I don't know if I showed the few last handles I made for people. Imma try to only post the ones that weren't posted here already. To be sure here's only one. It was my first "screwed together" prototype that I broke off just too see how strong it was, and were the point of failure would be (pretty easy to know). It was pretty darn strong, more than enough once screwed to a 3mm steel tang.

:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

I have two newer ones in AEB-L and VG XEOS, but they only use the stock G10 scales.

Mikey,

What are these scales made from? They look awesome man. I only have the factory scales on mine and yet I really like how they feel in my paw.

Thanks, Jeb. The top one is micarta. The Mule in the bottom photo has some kind of dyed stabilized wood.

Things ever slow down around here and I can get caught up on other stuff I am in the middle of, I have some Buckeye burl from up in the northwest that I want to make a set of scales out of, and a set of grips for a 1911 pistol.

But these you got here above look amazing...
