I’ve been converting over to cast iron in the kitchen (some things they got right in days of old). This has also caused a needed change in utensils. Many of the plastic tools don’t fare well against the iron cook surface. And my favorite spatula (over 20yrs old from a dollar store) has been melting and requiring frequent shaving.

So for Christmas my bride got me a new stainless steel spatula/flipper/smasher. Only one problem! As finished, all edges were sharp, unsuitable for my wonderful Griswold no. 9! What’s a Spyderco afficianado to do?

Enter the Doublestuff 2! A thorough deburr with the cbn side followed by polishing with the white ceramic side. Happily, the edge of the spatula fit the groove in the ceramic, so after about 20 minutes of rubbing I had silky smooth spatula edges and a filthy dark gray stone. I scrubbed the spatula surfaces and edges with barkeepers friend, and cleaned up my stone. I should have snapped a pic of the dirty stone, it was impressive!

I wanted to try slicing up a couple of very ripe tomatoes using my PE & SE Counter Puppy’s. The PE version worked better.

Fix'ins for an omelette for my Best Friend; the day before I had cut up some kiwi and that really put the patina on the K390 Endura like nothing else I've encountered :spyder:

Used my CPM S110V Manix 2 LW over the past week or so to cut open boxes, packages, a bit of breakfast preparation from time to time, popping open pallets of steel sheets at work, zip ties, hard wood carving, cutting a couple of 5-gal. buckets in half, slicing up cardboard boxes, a soda can, and more. The edge is to the point where I'd normally sharpen it. It still slices copier paper, albeit somewhat raggedly. For some reason though, I don't feel like sharpening it yet.
I recently sold off a couple knives, and I've been thinking about using the funds to buy a Wicked Edge sharpening system. I might wait on re-sharpening until I get one.

The deer ate all of mine last year. I had to resort to planting mint plants to keep them away, but as you can guess, the mint has now taken over.

Went down to wash a few dishes in my local creek at sundown, next minute a 5m salty projects out of the water and grabs my whole head in its jaws.
Thank god I realised I had my lil Reinhold Rhino on me, which I deployed in the blink of an eye, luckily, as the croc had dragged me under by that stage, was death rolling me, thinking about what ledge it was going to stash me under.
I reached up and felt a golf ball sized eye that I plunged my Rhino into, in an instant it released its jaws and it was happy days for me, free to live another day.
Thanks Spyderco.

Sliced some bubble wrap, broke down a big box and cut what felt like a million zip ties setting up a new set of lebert bars.

Prior to that it did fire prep, cut some roasting sticks and sliced up some sausage and apples on a hike.

Still very sharp.

Don’t you hate it when that happens?
That's why I make the wife do the dishes.

Lol, good thinking, funny you mention that, my first 3 wives unfortunately disappeared whilst on a twilight dishes mission.
What are the chances of that?
