This thread is becoming confused. Was Sal's latest response regarding: a) the existing cf/zdp-89 version again becoming available or b) was he referring to the new lw Caly 3.5 beginning production?

Seems to me that Sal is referring to the 3.5 CF version. I agree the thread is getting muddled. And there's a duplicate thread as well.

Not you my good sir! We all have wandered in this thread. And it's super exciting to get any updates on any Caly projects. I'm very intrigued by the 4" version.

The ZDP CF Caly 3.5 is a great knife! I would be very interested in any variants. The idea of having an FRN variant is interesting even though I favor other handle materials a lot of times. FRN may be fitting, especially if it allows for a lighter weight construction. The CF version is svelte already, this model may excel at being a very light and smaller profile knife with a generous amount of blade.

I am also a fan of having this knife available in different steels!

Man, I took a look at the Caly 3.5 specs, and I must say that a lightweight could be pretty ideal for me. I suppose it depends on cost. If I read correctly, it will be made in Taiwan, which makes me think it might be more than I'd pay, but I guess we'll see.

The current plan is to make it with the original Caly 3.5 maker.

I think it will be made in Japan but as usual Spyderco keeps that close to the vest. I'm guessing that it's the Moki manufacturer who makes the usual Caly's. Sal is a very very loyal guy and is loathe to change manufacturers unless there really is no other choice. Lol, he beat me to it.

In that case it may just be a great alternative to the Delica for me.

Oh man, why did I have to find this forum where I can get news of awesome stuff before it is available! Now I have to wait patiently... ;)

Those of you who have purchased a ZDP Caly 3.5 recently, is there still lock rock, as there was a few years ago--or did the lock rock go away when Moki 'righted their ship'? I've been holding off a purchase until I can be reasonably confident of a non-rocker.
