Shockwave wrote: Oh that's awesome!! It truly is a magical place in UP. I've backpacked & mt. bike camped on Grand Island out of Munising the past 3 years in a row. I live in St. Clair Shores, MI so its about 5-7 hour drive to MQT for me. It takes so long to get there and time is so limited that I have not been to Copper Harbor area yet, I'm ashamed to say.
Ah, I think there's another forum member here from east side over there, I think his username is Matt___?

And you have GOT to get to da harbor, eh. No doubt about it, prettiest area in midwest. I've bikepacked grand island and slept with the bears, too, but doesn't even compare to CH and the Keweenaw.

Back on topic, this HAP40 is doing me well! Used it a bit at work. The factory edge is primo, haven't felt the need to go at it on the SM yet.
Considered stirring my coffee with it to see what happens , but might just let it go natural and not forced.

It is a bicycle tube repair kit. I don't own any Byrds and don't plan on it and I haven't smoked in years. ;)

Haha, I don't smoke either, just thought I recognized the color and placement in vehicle seems common.

On the other hand, I would recommend picking up a Byrd to try out just for the heck of it! Smoking, not so much. :)
I just got a Crow 2 (my first Byrd) in the same order with my HAP40 Endura and I am pleasantly pleased with this little stout knife. Might like these better than my Ambitious, and now considering getting a Raven 2 and possibly Cara Cara 2 in the future as well (curious about future Sandvik also)!

I would definitely pick up a Byrd before I picked up another cigarette. No doubt about that. :D

Has anyone's developed a patina yet on the HAP40? Mine's stayed virtually unchanged with light use.

Someone in one of these HAP40 threads, either here or BF (can't remember now), posted up his being a little darkened from cutting his grapefruits in the morning. Looked similar to how M4 would take a patina by just darkening a bit, not a drastic change or swirls or colors anything.

I haven't had mine more than a few days, so I haven't noticed any change at all yet...

My Endura is darker. I posted pics somewhere. Prob I'm the main Hap40 thread. It was nothing like SB. But did take a patina easier than I have had M4 patina.

I got a little darkening cutting apples and leaving the juice on my HAP40 Endura a half hour or so.

Image I posted this in the patina thread, but it shows a comparison of how hap40 develops a patina in comparison to superblue. (Endura vs. Manbug)

Thanks! I think I just grabbed the last one from KW. It shows out of stock now. I'm looking forward to getting this one!

I've been carrying my Super Blue Delica all week, waiting to get an order in for this one...

Oh yeah that was you who I was thinking of about the grapefruits! The good old patina thread. :D

Is yours also getting the sandwich stripe down the spine?

Yeah, the Hap40 is exposed down the spine so there is patina formed there also.

A seller on eBay listed 10 available for sale (9 of which are still available since placing my order). It is not listed as Hap40 in the posting, just Burnt Orange, but the model # matches up.

Oh and it is a US seller with a very reasonable price and low shipping.
