Please send them back with the knife and we will make them fit for you. All our scales are CNC machined by our production standards. The mule team knives are laser cut and hand finished, so there is some variation.

Glad to help you out.

Thanks, but its not necessary; this is just a very minor fit issue and is of no consequence as this knife will be a working knife-it should make be a wicked paring knife reprofiled at 15 dps. Besides I have plenty of time on my hands with these weekly blizzards in MA to fit it myself. I have plenty of diamond files to whittle down the mule handle.

I don't think it's necessary to post every single issue or problem, that was not the point of this thread, which is to provide model info and availability on their current products. Any problems or issues can be handled with Halpern directly, just as you would any other business. Please don't clutter up this thread and make it more difficult to get information and updates on the actual products. Mistakes are made by every company, I just don't think this is the most appropriate place to air out every issue.

I look forward to more releases from Halpern.

I finally got some pictures of some of my Mules wearing the Halpern Ti scales.

I don't remember all the exact options I ordered, some such as the thicker (option 3?) are from an earlier order.
(pardon the black borders on the images from cropping/resizing, I thought I fixed the images on photobucket but the changes aren't showing up here yet...)

option 3? earth brown
Image

3D contoured option 4
Image

contoured option 3 in gray
Image

contoured option 4 in "natural" (sometimes referred to as jade?)
Image

contoured option 4 orange
Image

thicker orange ones, I think these were option 3?
Image

I think these were the option 5 slim black
Image

Image

option 5 slim blue

I think I'm a bit color-blind, and have difficulty telling the difference between some shades of green and brown, but I think these are ranger green option 5.

and these I think were the OD Green

The lines don't look this pronounced in person, I think the lighting and texture over-emphasized them

I do love the CF :)

And I added a pic to the Swick scales thread of my scales for the Swick 3, but I'll add it here too:

Will a mule with option 4 3D scales fit into a Sheathpro sheath molded for option 5 scales?
I'm sure someone out there has both.

thanks

Just judging from the size differential between the option 4 (left) and 5 (right) SheathPro sheaths, I would venture to say no. I didn't try to jam any of my option 4 Mules into this option 5 sheath and don't really want to! ;) I would say just from this pic, that it wouldn't work very well, they are a pretty snug fit. SheathPro is a great company to deal with, Christina can definitely set you up with a great one! Cheers, Radioactive

Love carrying this guy upfront. Small, light weight, easy to conceal, and fast deployment if needed. I have wore this now for 2 days since I have built it and forget its even on my possession positioned just like this up front.

Cheers,

Here is a follow up, couple pics of the new grips and sheaths. (the Foliage Green is stashed away with the collection, the Natural Micarta is now in my EDC rotation)

Please help me spread the word. Les and I will be at IWA in Germany and then on to Poland March 5th until March 17th.
Kyle and I are the mule team handle team. I'm not sure how we are going to handle Swick and Mule team handle orders in my absence.
I'm noting on our web site that orders will not be processed during that time. I may come up with a game plan but for now I'm saying no orders will be processed. Orders can be placed but that means you are paying and waiting for 2 weeks.

We are out of Natural Micarta option 4 and have 2 sets of rosewood option 4. The rest of the options should be available for awhile.
So... If you're thinking about ordering, get your orders in now. Kyle is getting handles out within 2-3 days.

After the next release, we will have more natural Micarta option 4, rosewood Dymondwood, Cocobolo Dymondwood and Heritage brown Dymondwood in the shopping cart.

We are adding international shipping to our shopping cart.

Photos sent in by Forum members are also slated for our web page. If you haven't seen my earlier posts, any photos used will earn a free set of handles. I'm looking for 4-5 photos, especially showing the shades of green and brown.
Thanks again for the great response and understanding on a few wrong colors or missed order.

...I'm happy with them, but would really like it if Halpern also offered them without the checkering, just a smooth polished finish.

Interesting! Here's an old pic of mine showing some red/black Dymondwood Mule grips I made (top knife, the MT-01 52100). I imagine the Rosewood would bring up some really attractive colors and patterns, too. The color of the laminate comes out more dramatically with a smooth polished finish.

I feel exactly the same about the OD and Natural Micarta contoured scales.
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod

That sounds like a great idea for another option for us down the road. That's the first request so help me out. Anyone else like that idea? I'd like to get a sense of overall interest before we make hundreds of a new option.
Just Micarta and wood or also G10.
We could machine in any of our option 4 colors or materials.

Let me know so I can get them planned for the end of this year.

Actually the idea to sand them smooth was recommended in my first post about these scales here, so you can count me interested too:

I think I got the last set of Halpern's natural micarta scales and they're awesome. I'm really happy with SheathPro as well.

I agree with the Deacon; a smooth contoured scale would be my next choice. I'd prefer micarta to other materials.
