Brian's Wee Selection
Brian,
Thank you for the tip. Good pictures. My hand is fairly large. Mostly I need hawkbill to cut vine from my trees and bushes and I am thinking mostly about Spyderhawk SE, unless I find crazy deal in Tasman. I saw few great deals on PE, but probably SE would be much better for yard needs.
Thank you,
Roman

My first post
Hi everybody,
This is Roberto from Spain. I love these folders and a year ago started buying them regularly, so my collection is not as huge as Brian's... :) This photo is a little dark and Spydercos are a little too oiled but I wanted to share my latest acquisitions with you.
I guess you all know but here we have Para-Military 2, Matriarch 2010 Sprint Run PE, Perrin PPT and Superhawk. The first one is just a slight improvement over previous model, but that's not an easy task when we're talking about achieving perfection. I chose Matriarch in PE just for being more different to Civilian, and I swear it cuts very very well as I had an accident closing it with one hand having my right index too low... ouch! Perrin PPT was slightly smaller in hand than I thought, but its ergonomics are superb and it's one of my favourites bugs. Finally, I must admit that I bought Superhawk because of its reduced price, but when I opened the box I fell in love!
Regards,
Roberto

Brian,
Congrats. Spyderwrench in PE is certainly a good catch. I saw one on the knife show at decent price a while ago and didn't buy :o (stupid me)

Brian,
Very nice pictures. How do you like this knife to compare with previous variants? I cooled down to Chinese folder a little after I got original green and black ZDP. Still debating if I need this one.
So what do you think?

These are very nice pictures Brain. Good toys. Thank you for keeping your thread updated.
I am enjoying it a lot.
Out of these four I bought only Caly3.5 and cut myself on the first day as well. But I had couple spontaneous buys at Sierra, which raised question "Why did I do this?" few days later. :o

Hey Brian,
Thanks for all your detailed and beautiful pictures. Really helps me plan out what Spyderco's I would like to pursue as I start down the treacherous and wonderful path of collecting/using.
I just had a few questions for you. I hear Spyderco may be releasing an FRN Dragonfly with steel clip. If you were in my position (no dragonfly, new collector, semi-limited budget) would you wait to see what happens or would you pick up the G10 version? Also, what do you think of the Jesters?
Thanks!
Steve

Hey Steve,
Depends to a certain extent why you want the knife?
If its just the first in a line of collectables then yes the is as good a place as any to start. I started with a NATIVE in black FRN but either would do.
IF you are an office-based guy or looking for a Gentleman's knife then the Dragonfly is possibly a more convenient and better place to start.
And welcome to the World of Spydie Addiction, we all started with just one!
Nearly forgot to add, I love the Jesters and now always have at least one on my keychain.

Hi Brian, thanks for your response. I go back and forth on whether or not I am comfortable with buying knives (or flashlights, my other hobby) solely to sit around unused.
You can see in my signature the models I have currently (all but the Endura are in transit). I found a LNIB black FRN Spyderedge Dragonfly for sale on a forum for $25 and am heavily considering buying it just to have a D'Fly in the collection along with it being my first SE. Hopefully I will be able to pick up a Jester in a few days as well.
Thanks for the welcome too!

Steve,
Might I humbly suggest you try the Jester or some of Spyderco's smaller models first before committing too much onto your next knife :p The ones you have are more than capable cutters for EDC and you will be surprised even how some of Spyderco's LBKs will do the job that a larger knife is usually chosen to perform.
I am a big fan of the Ladybug and it is the one that resides on my keychain. Kopa usually accompanies it in the pocket, and a medium to large on in my rear pocket. More often than not the smaller one comes out and nobody bats an eyelid... oh, and it cuts very well too.
For collecting... that's another story. If you have collector mates on forums or in person and are lucky enough to get loaners then you can do much more research without coughing out dough. Then decide. If you like I can loan you some of mine if you want. but I'm sure there are more closer options to you Stateside

Harpy's, Carbon Fibre SE and PE at the top, Stainless SE underneath, Black G10 under that BUT what is the one at the bottom? :D Anybody with more than 250 posts is NOT allowed to answer this!
