Peter Gabriel’s cover of Bowie’s “Heroes” at the end of our just-binged Stranger Things 3, along with our recent viewing of the documentary Peter Gabriel: So (Classic Albums), reminded me that I had been neglectful of him.
So I’ve been on a Genesis, Phil Collins, and, especially, a Gabriel jag.
That was by far the very best version of the old rock song "SWEET JANE" done by Lou Reed on his legendary "ROCK & ROLL ANIMAL" album. There wasn't a bad song on the entire album. Also long time Detroit, MI USA guitarist Dick Wagner who just died a while back did some of his best guitar work ever on that album.
Lou Reed also did that song when he was with his old group the "Velvet Underground" Lou Reed was one of those guys who was huge behind the scenes with great song writing and was connected with many superstars of his era. It was sad to see him go a couple of years ago.
The live Lou Reed version of SWEET JANE off of the "Rock N Roll Animal" LP is just about my favorite Lou Reed album of all time.
Lou Reed included my home town of Kansas City, MO in 1974 in his "Rock N Roll Animal" tour. Needless to say it was sold out  His guitarist Dick Wagner had been with quite a few Detroit bands over the years and was a much overlooked guitar player. Dick Wagner also had an old Rock group called "The Frost" who had some terrific albums as well.
Johnny Winter had an album entitled "Still Alive & Well" which to this day is one of my top 30 LPs on my personal all time list. Johnny Winter was screaming good in concert. Also his old LP entitled "Johnny Winter AND" was truly a legendary 1970s LP too.

Just saw Iron Maiden last night. Best concert I've ever seen. Even my wife who's not into metal said it was amazing. I've seen a lot of bands live but those guys are just on another level.
