I'm bummed about the Matriarch. I've always wanted to try the S curve.

There is a lot of random luck in sales like these. I think I'm over it.

they need to do the additional inventory un-announced unless they can get their servers fixed. such a joke.

Yeah I mean what do people want Spyderco to do, invest in a massive infrastructure upgrade for this one event?
Exactly! Payne gets it.
Well not quite. I mean as a CS person I know that there are options available for temporary increases in bandwidth thru services like AWS.
Honestly this sale has been more frustrating than anything. I think it’s just been a chance for resellers to stock up using bots by regular users can’t get access to the site. I really do appreciate Spyderco trying to make this work but tbh they could have made it work a whole lot better. Thanks for trying tho. I really do appreciate the chance but it's just not worked out for me at least.
Well unfortunately it's not that simple to just request additional bandwidth and expect that that will take care of the overloading of the ecommerce platform. There are always other factors to consider. I remember Jason of DLT saying in one of his live views on Facebook that even when they had one of the best plans available on their ecommerce company, their site still crashed during the Para 3 CruWear drop. And that's a knife dealer specialising in high volume, high traffic online sales.

What's CS? I don't know how AWS would be utilized in a situation like this, but my guess would be they would have to host the sale meaning Spyderco would have to move or setup an entire new store on AWS servers which sounds like it might take more time than they had. I really don't know how this stuff works, I may be totally wrong. I just think they did the best with what they could put together in such a short time for what will presumably be a one time only event. It's clunky, it's of course not as fun as ooing and ahhing over buckets of knives one might not otherwise be able to afford, but it's arguably better than nothing.
I do appreciate the effort despite the fact that I'm not really getting much out of it. I managed to meander my way through checkout with a Siren which is pretty neat since it was actually on my list, even though I had no faith it would make it through. Almost makes it more satisfying! And all the ones that disappeared from my cart like souls trying to escape the house in the first season of American Horror Story, well, I'll be fine without 'em.

On the shopping cart page it says:
"We offer free shipping in the Continental U.S. on orders $150 or more."
On the sale page it says:
"...each order will be processed as a separate transaction. They cannot be consolidated."
So does this mean that if you order five knives that add up to $200,
there is no free shipping and shipping will be charged separately on each knife?
Does it mean the only way to get free shipping is to order a knife that costs more than $150?

It means one order has to be $150. You can't place several orders, have them total $150, and still get the free shipping.

There is free shipping applied. I ordered 2 knives on my first successful order that totalled exactly $150 and I got free shipping.
Besides considering how heavily discounted some of these factory seconds are, an additional $13 won't hurt much. That's how I got the Police K390 G-10, $108 shipped. Not bad if you ask me.

Not if you order them in the same transaction. If you order 5 $149 knives in 5 separate transactions, yes you have to pay shipping 5 different times. If you order 5 $30 knives at once adding up to $150, shipping is free. Hopefully that makes sense.

To clarify, if you buy five knives adding up to $200 in one order, you get free shipping. If you place five orders of $40 each, you pay shipping on each one.

And just as soon as they dropped, they're gone like smoke! I had it in my cart as but as I was about to complete the transaction, the next page said OOS. Ouch. No man could possibly be that fast in checking out lol.

I don’t blame Spyderco at all, but I think I’ve killed 3 hours over the last couple days with nothing to show for it. I think I’m done trying to get lucky. Spyderco is doing the best they can, but this has been challenging to say the least. I think it’s just the nature of the beast with a sale like this. I don’t think any company could pull it off smoothly.

I finally got lucky - I happened to be on the site when the new drop happened but before the tweet went out. Grabbed a Yojimbo. Super happy about.

I couldn't figure out why people bought the Ark as when you include shipping it's the same price from your favorite knife shop.
I'm happy though. I got a Respect sans sheath which has been on my wish list. Made the painfully slow process worth it.
Thank you Spyderco, I appreciate participating in the sale which normally I wouldn't be able to. I'm sure it has been hectic, but I did notice the Out Of Stock ones are being removed. Shows you listen!

I just noticed that the spyderco main page has changed to sold out “thanx much” for the factory seconds sale page. Does that mean it is done completely?
