Hey REJECT I've finally got it figured out!! You are Spyderco's "Manufacturer's Rep" for the great country of Australia!!!
How else are you getting all of this stuff?? It just makes perfect sense :D I should have figured that out a long time ago.

Well it's just too bad that Mr. Glesser never made an official Steve Irwin model :D Oh I miss that great Brother so bad :)

No; Zen Imports has that job.

I have a few more examples of models that would fit into this thread. Like the Mariner, Hunter, Economy, Harpy, Pro-Grip and a few of the newer models that only had one run.

But while I find the thread fascinating, as I do with other threads that explore the past models. They don’t seem to capture the interest of many other forum members or even Spyderco themselves.

With your thread “Completely Forgotten Spyderco Models”. One could ask; forgotten by who? I could put up a model and the members who created Spydiewiki would laugh at it being suggested that it was forgotten. Yet newer members may never have known it existed; but may show no interest because it not the newest trend and doesn’t have a boutique steel.

The biggest question I have is; :eek: where are all the collectors?

A thread like this, should be a perfect excuse to drag that collection out and start taking photos of them and posting them up.

I follow this thread with greatest interest and every time a new model is suggested, I check my data sheet (own memory will not work well enough :p) and am happy to see when it's in my hoard.

I keep thinking back to the fun we had with GSO’s “I’ll see your Spyderco and rise you another!” thread. I remember what a great job IG-88 did in cleaning up the mess I made of the list.

Haven't got rid of any, :rolleyes: so all the others are still in the collection.

I had a chance about a year ago to trade a couple of my Spyder treasures for one of those 25th Anniversary Delica models. But I'm just not all that crazy about the Delica anymore unless it's got a supersteel blade.

My old boss still brags on that ZDP-189 Delica I sold him a few years back.

I used to own one of those Ed Schempp Persian models. They were really well loved during that brief time slot.

There aren't many of the newer folks ( past 5 years or less) that even know of the PERSIAN. I love knives with a "belly" on the blade especially when skinning animals or dressing out fish. Which is why I can't hardly wait for the new Sprint Run of the C-60 Ayoob to be released hopefully by early Spring.

Also Ed Schempp's KRIS model is really making a popularity comeback of sorts. It's another discontinued Spyder from that time slot that got more popular after it was cut from the main line up.

That J.D. Smith model was one of the models I truly feel in love with all the way back to the ATS-34 era. I still have an ATS-34 full SE version of the JD Smith NIB. I'm surprised that the JD Smith and the C-60 Ayoob and C-57 Zowada models didn't become permanent models in Spyderco's main line up. Yeah they are all that good IMO.

C30 Remote Release. You do hear mention of it now and then, but not often.

I always liked the "Remote Release" far better than I did the "Snap-It" model which was made for similar types of cutting jobs.

Spyderco has always had great "specialty" type knives.

Many of the ones I enjoy are mentioned here. One that I have come to like and use a lot is the Junior. I have been carrying it on overnight bike rides. It works great for food and is light in the pocket. Grabbed this pic from GIS. Mine is not nearly as nice looking any more.

Good choice! The Junior has been a knife of choice for me as well on many backpacking trips for those reasons.
