The Ikuchi and Kapara were both out around similar times with the Ikuchi following by a bit. Now that the Kapara has an exclusive, what do you all think about how close we’re to seeing an exclusive Ikuchi or a sprint?

i was very close to buying an ikuchi a couple months ago. i was just waiting for a mule to drop so i could grab them together. the ikuchi went out of stock about a week before the mule dropped.
here i sit just waiting.
i don't think i'll ever manage to get my hands on a mule i'm interested in. that's okay though... as long as the longer enuff comes out in lc200n, i can get over that.

I hate to rain on your parade but Eric specifically said in the Knife Center video that the new 4 inch long enuff will be H1. I was really hoping for LC200N too. Maybe Spyderco will do a larger Enuff in LC200N later.

not raining on my parade. i saw the video. it was a hopeful comment. after all, many of use have said the same, seki should have the materials already, and the knife is not in production yet.

My guess is that the Kapara and also the Smock were much better sellers than the Ikuchi, and anyone looking to run exclusives of models wouldn’t put it too high on their list compared to those two. Not that it doesn’t deserve a different blade steel/scale treatment, your better bet would be to find an Ikuchi with good action and get custom scales made to your liking.

Hate to bring back an old thread but looking for hope before sending back. Just got my Ikuchi in today and got quite the blister on my finger from attempting to deploy. I don’t love the idea of attempting to modify the lockbar tension. Any tips on saving my fingers or do they chalk it up to not for me and send it back?

I have around 75 Spydercos and the Ikuchi is by far my least favourite. Mine is broken in but still a pain if I have wet fingers or use my left hand. When you do get it open the lock is a bit wobbly due to all the mating surfaces being small. The stock is only 2.5mm but the blade is so narrow that the primary grind is quite obtuse and it is a really poor slicer. Like I said, my least favourite Spyderco.

I am looking seriously at a Smock. What I would really like is an interesting sprint run (it's ridiculous how spoilt I have become

There are some Smock exclusives out there. I should have got the DLT one but I didn't. I did get the Blade HQ one though.

My post-CQI Ikuchi needed no break in. It just works easily on opening. One tip for opening more easily is to use less finger pressure, not more. Experiment with it and see where the sweet spot is pressure wise. It should have a properly light action. I also use my index finger and rarely try the thumb method. Thumb method works, but just it is more awkward for me to implement.
