Absolutely. I bought my first Spyderco, the C01 Worker in 1981. It was made in Seki, Japan. So to me, Japan is as much as home to Spyderco as is Golden, CO..
Now I only wish I had picked up that earth brown sprint when I had the chance...

Thanks for sharing the insight. What gets me is it is dishonorable to take the model away from them but to me it is equally dishonorable to effe up the QC to the point the model gets disco'ed. I probably need to let this go. I am a Sales Manager for a large company and our competitors (and rarely us) get fired for QC lapses all the time. Of course this is domestic commerce we are talking about.

Well said, and I fully agree.
I thought I had read that one of the older generation craftsman there recently had a stroke, quite possibly making the passing on of skills or techniques even more delayed and difficult. Sad circumstance of life, but give it time and I'm sure they can keep moving forward.

It's like a lot of the "Old School Spyders">> they got it right the first time. The C-54 Calypso was truly a masterpiece and was the grandfather of all the other Calypso models IMO.
I don't know if the C54 was overlooked by many, but ever since I started buying Spyderco's (maybe 10 years ago), the Micarta C54's have been selling for $300. It was too expensive to me for something similar to the Endura or G-10 Police.
I was SUPER happy when they released the brown sprint a while back. For less than the price of one Micarta C54, I bought two G-10 C54's.

It's crazy how many times I've almost bought BBS brown sprint.

Heck, at this point I would jump to buy a re-release of the same sprint as is...call it a Sprint Redux. Hoping production issues in Japan are being resolved.
I do not mind to see Caly 3.5 sprints as well. VG10 will be fine, just different colors of scales. Smooth will be great. I would die for SS bolstered variant.

With all of these people recently calling for Delicas with choils and fabricators making replacement handles with choils, Spyderco really needs to get the Caly 3 back into full production mode in a couple of different flavors (G10/FRN) so they can fill the hands of those in need! :D

Looking at this another way , maybe they should make the Caly without a choil , and appease all the Delica fans out there who outnumber the Caly owners and still sleep happily at night without a choil :)

I strongly believe that the only reason why Delica owners outnumber Caly owners is the difference in price. VG10 Caly was almost twice as expensive. Make FRN Caly at the same price as Delica/Endura and this will change.

Delica already has that covered... and does it very well.
Not looking to create a "choil versus" debate. I can do either way if the knife is designed well... and I see you do as well with as much as you carry a Dragonfly.
Oh my goodness... To me the 3/4 choil is one of Caly's key features and a reason why I much prefer it over the Endura. Please keep the 3/4 choil on the Caly.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but any updates on Moki, Sal? Is the new caly3 in hap40 a indicator things got fixed? I finally got a caly 3.5 in zdp189 and it was made in may 2016, so they must still be making these correct? Mine had a little grit but after taking the blade out and cleaning it real good and adding a drop of oil this is the smoothest knife I own at the moment. I'm glad I finally got one, it is by far my favorite spydie now and I'm not sure if anything will be able to match it now. Glad I wasn't too late to still get one of these :)
