Dear Spyderco,

Thanks for putting on the Factory Second Sale. It was much appreciated. Especially for a newbie, it is a wonderful way to get up to speed on may of the knife models of which we want all of them. Plus it helps to save marriages :p

I bought one of the Aquas for $60, new. At first I thought it was a good deal, but it may be possible to find a better deal on line. The Aqua Salt is my favorite hiking knife, but I needed a PE (previous kinfe is a SE). The nice thing about getting a new knife at SFO is that all the profit goes to the great folks at Spyderco.

Jim
That is a good price; the best I've seen online was $64. My ebay deal was killer because the two identical knives closed at close to the same time. I was on the second one, which sold for $10 less than the first.

What IS the deal with these close out prices on all H-1 fixed blades?

By the way, is there a hotel nearby? I want to go next year and would like to get there a day early so I can get in line at 2:am. Thanks.
I did see Eric Glesser with what I think was his son. He was going in the office, looks like just to grab something and he was gone. as for the others I don't know for sure if they were there since I don't know what they look like and they weren't wearing name tags. I can say that everyone there was super nice considering all the madness :)

I can tell you there isn't a hotel within walking distance but I'm sure you can find a hotel within 10 minutes drive of the HQ

Charlynn was there, she is in one of the photos. I wont point her out, just cause I dont think she would like that. I talked to Kristi and Eric on friday, both were taking saturday off. But he may have droped by at some point to snag something. Sounds like he has worked the last few weekends in a row at shows, so he was excited for the time off. I dont blame him, shows are tireing. Rachel (SFO) Paul (SFO) Mike (SFO) Kelly(sales) Lynette (Sales, was SFO) Boots(Shipping I think) Olive (not sure) And at least 3 or 4 other employees that work in manufacturing were there. The two gals that do QC were there (cant remember their names) They had a good portion of the staff working. Its fun cause even they get excited about deals. I walked in and only employee signaled me over and said hey... this is a sweet deal. And handed me a nearly perfect BlackBlade Para with no clip, and the lock was a smidge sticky for $10. Its great! I know a number of them grabbed good deals as well.

So what was the one knife you wanted for yourself?

Also out of curiosity, what did the Leafstorms go for?
Leafstorms were for $50

No stinking accident was gonna keep me away! :) Been off my feet since. By the time I left the show my ankle was about twice its normal size  prob wasnt the best idea... but worth it.

I went to snag a new military for myself, and ended up keeping a Blackblade Digicamo Millie, and the Rescue 93mm, gave my girlfriend a Chicago, and the two kitchen knives I snagged. Other than that, everything else was for others.

Tricod was it you I was waiting near in the check out line? I gave you the JD Smith from my cast offs?

That was me! Thanks again! You helped make another Forumite a happy man :D Its funny, cause whoever returned this knife was a lefty :)

I drove up Friday and arrived early enough to make my debit card cry "Uncle!" from the markdowns that had already been pulled. :D

Image

I got up and around early enough Saturday to make the first group in (there is one advantage to being on Central time ;) ), and I proceded to make the card cry some more.

Not pictured - one black handled Tasman Salt second because I forgot it was in my pocket and I'm too lazy to set that up again. :o

From a Canadian point of view, Im jealous and envious.

Are there any shows like this that occur in the Toronto area at all?

Obviously not a Spyderco specific meet, but somethihng that offers all sorts of knives.

I'm easy to miss when I'm not wearing my red suit. :D
I spent my time in line whittling until they let us in the building, then I put away my project so I wouldn't get little wood chips in the carpet. I spent the rest of the time chatting with fellow forumite Eighth of Eight and his family. I had to finish this up later that evening.

That's an excellent idea and could tip my desire to attend next year from wishful thinking into action.

We should have a get together the afternoon of the sale also. Just like when we were kids trick or treating and had the extra fun of going through our spoils and trading.

I agree. We Forumites should meet up the day before and all put a face with a name. Have it be like "The Gathering" then the afternoon (like Sequimite said) we could all get back together and do something.

That would be one great weekend! I have to go next year. Seeing those digi camo millies and paras made me kick myself for not going... not to mention the other ones shown...
