Sad day at daughter’s house , Hummingbird hit sliding door to deck and broke a wing . I went over and took him home the girls were pretty upset . Getting to be a big baby putting down something so beautiful suffering .I just could not see another animal eat it .Dan

Since I quit washing my picture windows
I have had no bird strikes.
That's my excuse and I'm going to stick to it.

Dang, love the hummingbirds! Sad when I see one down. We saw lots while camping this past weekend.

Haven’t been on this thread in a couple days, so sad to hear this Dan…we have a place locally that rehabs injured animals then releases them back into their natural habitat…they also raise/release orphaned fawns or any juvenile for that matter…we’ve taken them baby squirrels, birds, coons, rabbits and even a chipmunk…I don’t know the extent of the hummingbird’s injuries or even if the little fella could have been helped as it’s so small so I’m sorry you had to deal with that… we’ve had to put animals out of their misery too and it’s no fun, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I have not seen many of these this year or Cicadas . It must be a down part of cycle , I do have another active Cicada Killer nest built by shed which makes three in proximity.

That’s odd cuz we’re covered up with both…I’ve never seen a Cicada Killer but they must be fat down here.

Years ago before I let my picture windows get dirty
whenever a bird would fly into the glass
and knock himself out
I would put him on the picnic table
away from the ants and dogs
and see if he recovered.
Several did, one or two did not.
This Pine Warbler is almost completely recovered.

Few years back a Hummingbird flew through garage and hit screen window in back . I picked him up and took him outside and sat him on deck railing by a feeder . He recovered and drank before leaving much to my wife’s delight . Lost a young House Wren last week hitting same window but was closed . Beautiful bird picture Mac ! Dan
