Adds strength, even if you do thin the secondary (edge) bevels. The 15V MT was exactly the same (if I'm assuming that you're talking about primary grind thickness, and not stock thickness? *I do not have my sample yet). Great for all kinds of real world outdoor tasks. I don't think this was meant as a kitchen knife MT, but by all means, you have the option to regrind to the thickness that your heart desires.Red Leader wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 11:14 amHow come? I like me some chonk, and while it is there, not very noticeable. We are talking like 5-10%.

I just looked on ebay and there is a person already selling both blades on there and they have more than one of each. Those guys work online at another level lol.

I woke up way late today for work, but the thing that awoke me was the alarm reminding me of the sale. In for one of each. Probably checked out 2 or 3 minutes after 11. Site performed well, and I had no real issues in paypal.

Okay, that's different. I envisioned something like 4mm vs 3mm. To me, though, consistent thicknesses would make for better comparisons among different steels.Red Leader wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 11:14 amHow come? It still beat out K390 in cut tests in its Mule iteration.

For a user, I can see where some would prefer thicker. I'm the opposite; I like thinner blades better.

I ordered a scale kit and a boltaron sheath in a separate order beforehand to make sure I knew what exactly the process looked like. It was worth the extra shipping charges to have peace of mind! I successfully ordered a PE and had my confirmation at 8:02 AM (PDT). Overall, I'm a very happy camper and can't wait to put this thing through tests! I have so much cardboard stockpiled for it

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, that making the stock thicker kind of defeats the point of the Mule platform for testing.Coastal wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 12:34 pmOkay, that's different. I also don't remember the 15V Mule being any thicker than the others I have had but maybe I didn't notice?

I will take some measurements when I get home btw this and a MT in 15V that I have
I’ve been using mine today on cardboard, tape, strapping, and I did use it on a mega industrial huge plastic zip tie and it ate it up like candy.

Re: MT46P/MT46S - Mule Team™ MagnaMax™ Release Info!
Okay, so when I got home I compared it to my 15V mule and I couldn’t tell a difference on the thickness, so I can’t explain what we saw in the store. It (the particular Magnamax example they had out) was definitely thicker than the one they compared it to, which was I think a SPY-27 one? It was for sure thicker. Maybe a one off? I dunno. But from what I can tell, expect a normal thickness mule for this one.

I measured a few in my office, both newer and older, and they're all very close( .1156 ) They were within a thou.

Sounds like variation in tolerances.
No matter how tight the tolerances are, Spyderco is still a production knife company. This is perceivable in every model that I've ever held multiples of, even in the exact same variational format. This seems to be most noticeable, or reported en masse in regards to edge bevels.

Yep, just checked, identical to my 15V. I wonder if our eyes just accounted for the difference of the one in the store? They sandwiched it next to a different mule and they were definitely different. Weird! Oh well. I like them.

Re: MT46P/MT46S - Mule Team™ MagnaMax™ Release Info!
I measured three Mules that are readily available, and they range from 0.1165" to 0.1185". If the MagnaMax Mules are thicker by some unknown number between 5% and 10%, I'm not going to get too worked up about it.
Re: MT46P/MT46S - Mule Team™ MagnaMax™ Release Info!
I'm assuming this just has to do with what sheet thickness they can get different steels in, and maybe even accounts for final finishing that some steels get that others don't get, like for example if they wanted to stonewash the finish or if a steel is particularly hard to grind and requires any additional belt work. It may also just not matter that much or not be worth the cost of making them all precisely the same thickness since there's no other lock or back spacer etc that needs to match a specific thickness for assembly like a folder would need.
