It's whatever skanky ISP you use for internet. You can't blame Spyderco.

I was busy at work and missed the drop by 40 minutes. Still got one and there was no site crashing either.

As for the poll helping, if it had gone up two years ago, maybe it would have helped. By the time that was posted, the steel was already in house.
Disagree. Would help Spyderco calibrate whether to allow people to buy one, two, or three...

Spyderco App still doesn't work for me, main page is working but catalog and other functions do not. I did reinstall several times but I'm pretty sure it's the fact that I'm in France that is the problem.
As some said earlier though : MagnaCut was a high demand indeed, we heard that name everywhere.
This time, not many people know SRS13 so it may mostly be people interested in the Mule Team

Like it did here? Set the limit at one per household per day. Let everyone have a crack at one, then if there are any left, those that are willing to pony up for seperate shipping can get another the next day. Done and done.
2000 Magnacuts sell out in an hour, 500 SRS13s and they're still available after nearly 2 hours. It's like trying to hit a moving target blindfolded with a catapault.

So maybe they need to be made aware!?

This matches my observations from this purchase to the Magnacut purchase and even the Z-Wear mule; all were done in person at the store. My Z-Max was done online and was a breeze.

"Like it did here?" Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but being Yablanowitz, I'll just go ahead and assume sarcasm. I'm talking future, you're talking past.
I like your idea of one per day. Seems it would help get the less popular Mules sold and at the same time, spread out the sales process so more people get to participate. (<--No sarcasm.)

I'll happily pay for separate shipping if/when another purchase is allowed. Quibbling about price on something so specialized (and on which the manufacturer is not making any real profit) is pretty silly.

I'm watching to see when/if they open it up for additional purchase. Maybe they'll open it up so I can order 2 when they do. If so I'll order another two just to show support for the mule project. Then I'll end up with 3!! I'm hoping for tomorrow, or maybe this afternoon.
I think it is clear that there is less demand for this one. With a name like "magnacut", the hype engine gets revved up and everybody and their cousin Sally is racing to get one. I'm not saying there is a thing wrong with magnacut, but I have seen human beings in action before. I mean offer me SRS13 or Magnacut and without any other information, I'll pick Magnacut every time. If it was Magnacut versus Megacut (or Maxicut) then I'd have to scratch my head longer.

I've seen several knife retailers have their PayPal accounts suspended for 'violation of terms'. I think it's because they sell autos. I'm not sure Spyderco wants to get involved in that mess.
Knivesandtools offers Paypal payment, but doesn't seem to offer auto knives.
CT and Bladehq do offer auto knives but don't feature paypal.
So you might be onto something.
Then again, I don't think Spyderco seels many automatics direct to consumers, at least in the US market.
Besides, policy clarification could be sought with Paypal before attempting to implement Paypal payments.
But if Spyderco doesn't want to use Paypal because of the costs incurred, that's a different matter.

Hi, Araignee:
We don't accept PayPal, but we do accept Mastercard and Visa. You won't be redirected to anything, the payment process is within our cart/site.
Thanks much.
Kristi
Hello Kristi, thank you for your message. The process was pretty straightforward.
I'm still hoping that Spyderco will eventually make Paypal payments available.

Yeah, the Spyderco software didn't like something about my account. Maybe it's my ISP or maybe it's something at Spyderco. I don't have problems with anything else I buy on the internet so I tend to think it's Spyderco's software.
The guy I talked to on the phone said they were working on new software that would be up at sometime in the future, so I guess they aren't happy with what they're using now.
They wouldn't sell me a knife over the phone either.
That's ok, exclusives have taught me I don't need what I can't get.

Not necessarily. Magnacut is an outlier from other steels. It's had a lot of hype behind it and there aren't a lot of production blades out there. A lot of people were anticipating it and wanted it. I don't think any steels in the near future will have the same anticipation.

Yeah yeah, I think MagnaCut made a lot of noise (and for a reason !), after a few mules Spyderco will know how much demand there really is.

I like that. Since I don't really need any more knives period, this sounds like an excellent thing
to use to talk to yourself. I often just say "more money to spend on xxx", where xxx is something
else I don't need.

And I just got shipped. So if they do open it up for more than one-fer I'll pay shipping again, which is fine.
I think it is important for this to not be a pain in the ear-lobe for Spyderco, so they don't just say that
the mule team thing is too much hassle and all the mule people ever do is complain, etc. etc.
Thanks for shipping so fast! They may be shipping as many as 499 boxes given that it hasn't sold out
and the estimated quantity is 500. That is pretty impressive.

This steel is perhaps too esoteric for most and higher price of $75 compared to $50 for 4 of 5 MTs last year. Also, Spyderco had no Mule Teams from October 2017 to February 2021 (3+ years). That built up demand. Then, in 2021 Spyderco released 5 Mule Teams which is quite a bit (first 4 sold for $50 and the last one $75). Additionally, most of those steels were very popular and perhaps should come back for another round: SPY27, S45VN and MagnaCut. Specially SPY27 and S45VN since the quantities were low. From the more distant past: LC200N, 20CV, 4V, K390.
Except for MagnaCut (MT35P) with a run of 2,000 the other 4 Mule Teams from 2021 (MT28-MT30) had a run of 500-550. I’m assuming the other 3 Mule Teams which were already in the planning stages (MT32-MT34) also have a run of 500-550?

I would like to make a suggestion for future Mule sales that could benefit to meet the needs of people who want at least 1 Mule and others that would like more. Why not limit the quantity to 1 for Mule orders made in the first 2 hours. Then increase the limit after that for those who would like to purchase more than 1? That would give a chance for anyone that just wants 1 to have the best chance to get their order in. Then anyone after that time frame would be able to purchase multiples.

Agree on all ^ above.
@ Kristi, please let us know if/when Spyderco will allow a second #32 mule purchase? I'd like a second in case I mess up my first...planning extensive modifications.
Magnacut was a major outlier and not very indicative. How many other knife steels have a very articulate and prolific specialist PhD in metallurgy, who is widely followed and quoted in the knife community, blogging about a specialized steel that he himself had formulated? I wouldn't call it "hype," because it is living up to the claims made for the formula, but Larrin did engage in a very effective form of targeted advertising and word of mouth, more power to him. It's just a very non-normal introduction to a new steel.
