I bought one of these over the weekend. The Chaparral was one model I was always interested in but thought it best to hold in hand first rather than take a chance online.

I really like it and have done as much cutting with it as I can since buying it. I really had planned on a sun and moon model, but I think the maple looks great also.

Mine arrived today and it is a perfect example IMO. Always fun to revisit an old favorite in a new flavor. Really wish they kept the hidden screws for the lock bar and back spacer - still a great looking knife though. Much better in person with that birdseye luster, but here's some quick pics on the bed cover:

I agree it would’ve looked cleaner with hidden screws but I really do enjoy my maple chap. Fit and finish were excellent.

Stunning! This made me finally order one, thanks haha. I couldn’t resist anymore. It seems the right move since I’ve always wanted to try the Chaparral after reading a lot of positive posts about it. Can’t wait :D

Very nice.
Great work on boring the wood, it's flawless. I've done several wood scales on folders and it's hard to get a clean hole with no raggedy edges. Taiwan right.

Super, super impressed with what I received. Spyderco knocked these scales out of the park! It has the smoothest action of all the Chaparral's I've owned too. I'm not good enough at taking pictures to really show off the curl and chatoyance, but it's a looker!

Very nice! Mine is quite smooth as well and still breaking in. The CF Chaparral 1 has been my favorite for a long time, but this one looks and feels so good... We'll see how the scales hold up over time loose in pocket with my keys.

I've been carrying it for a while now and I'm still really impressed with the quality of the scales. Fit and finish are great, no sharp edges at all, perfectly flush all the way around. Taichung really does some great work.

I do hope also with the performance of the blade! ;)
