Spyderco bad quality in recent years Also WR dept changed
Re: Spyderco bad quality in recent years Also WR dept changed
They have nothing to do with spyderco knives at all. The mod staff is cool with it despite the forum rules. As long as critical customers are drowned in it then it's ok. I'm sure a really positive and gushing thread crapped on by a bunch of animal pictures wouldn't be acceptable though.

Re: Spyderco bad quality in recent years Also WR dept changed
Spyderco makes a popular product. Spyderco forum is, in a large part, a social gathering of fans. Nothing wrong with it. Mixed in with lot of good information, this is where folks come in to share their 99% (don't have actual statistics) positive experience.
There is criticism which gets addressed. Some even by Sal himself. And, as we have seen with the whole warranty and locktite issue, drives a change in policy.
This thread, you have to admit, is pretty entertaining. There was really nothing more to be said to OP's claim of Golden made knives falling apart. No proof, no such experience by anyone else.

Re: Spyderco bad quality in recent years Also WR dept changed
This thread was about to get off to a really bad start. The OP did not make a clear case and did not provide too much info. We have had too many threads lately that quickly take a turn for the worse. We need less bickering and less calling each other trolls, shills and fanboys. Negative criticism is not stifled here by most of us but that is only if you actually provide something of value in your criticism. If you just want to vent about a bad experience than you will most likely get piled on. I deliberately derailed this thread to hopefully prevent a bunch of the aforementioned behavior, not to stifle criticism. Many people are tired of the bickering and it doesn't make Spyderco look good.
Someone else posted a critical review this week and did so in a constructive way that can actually benefit Spyderco. It, with the exception of a few comments, was received much better than this one and I actually think that addition of the poll in that thread was of value to Spyderco. The OP in the below thread made a much better critique of Spyderco than the OP in this thread and it was received, by most, in a better way.
Here is a better example of constructive criticism; //forum.spyderco.com/viewto ... =2&t=74572
Back to this thread. In this thread the OP states that his Delica from 8 years ago was higher quality and I infer that he means that it hasn't fallen apart.

In a previous post in a different thread he states that he took that knife apart and red loctited it to prevent it from falling apart.nikolasga20 wrote:In recent years I noticed warranty and repair service is not going good job as they used and the overall products especially the one make in golden are poor quality and falling apart I got my delica 8 years ago and is totally different quality than one I brought month ago same with pm2s and other folders ! Do anyone have similar experience
I still do encourage the OP in this thread to share pics or more details about these knives that are falling apart.nikolasga20 wrote:The para 2 screws that's the only one I ever had problem I own delica 4 since 2009 I red loctited all screws on it because I was worried to loose some over time and now since 2009 still working and no screws came loose but never stripped screw on delica only on pm2 and native

I keep coming back for the pics of birds. The original issue was pretty well settled in the first page of the thread. No photos or supporting data from OP. Lots of cool birds, though!

Nice setup, Darby. I have toyed with the idea of getting chickens, but I still like to travel around a bit--sometimes being gone for days or even weeks at a time--and don't feel like I could devote the necessary time to taking care of them. The fact that I live alone makes it even tougher. Still, it is definitely something I'd like to try in my future at some point.

Days is fine depending on your setup but weeks is tough.
It does not take very many chickens to have enough eggs to feed a family and it is quite easy to have more than you need. Luckily fresh eggs are easy to give away or even barter/sell. This makes it easy to find a bird sitter. I tell my neighbor that if he watches them while am gone he can have whatever eggs they lay while I am gone. In the summer that is at least a dozen a day with 20 hens. I give eggs away a lot. My neighbors, my mailman, the UPS guy, friends and family and some other people. Fresh eggs do taste better and chickens will make you popular. :)
I tell people this, keeping chickens is like keeping fish. If you have the time and energy to maintain a freshwater fish tank you can keep chickens.
I have been doing it for years now and honestly the only challenge I have ever had is predators but that has been a constant problem. Security is key depending on where you live.

OP if your thread was not just troll bait, as I inferred from your post, but a sincere problem, I will happily apologize for my initial response. Please do post pictures of the problem, or explain further if this is the case.

So....at least for you (based on your pics) it's quite obvious the chickens came before the eggs. :)bearfacedkiller wrote:Baby birds? How 'bout chickens

I used to keep chickens and bees when I lived in No Cal. They do require some attention, and you have to care. They sure are cute when they that small.

A bit disappointed to hear there's been more negative and non constructive criticisms on the forums recently, but I'm glad to see some of the good ole boys are keeping the place up. Looks like there's a few new guys and gals adding some positive vibes to the forums too, which is always great to see! On a side note, I'm loving all the birds. I mainly have nasty crows in my backyard, so seeing all these beautiful birds is great!

Re: Spyderco bad quality in recent years Also WR dept changed
I bought my house from a beekeeper. He is gonna help me set them up next spring. For now he gave me a bunch of honey from my own backyard from when he owned the place. He has hives all over the county. I don't know much about it but I have a good mentor. I am looking forward to it.
When I say that chickens are easy I don't mean to imply they can be neglected. I actually spoil my birds. I feed them mealworms, extra produce from the house and garden and lots of other treats. Chickens are omnivores and will eat a lot of different things. I pick them up often and carry them around and let them out to free range around the property. They are not affectionate but they know me, know I bring food and know I won't hurt them. They follow me around and if I leave a door open they try to come in the house. They have no fear of dogs or kids. They are happy chickens.
I believe that happy hens actually lay more eggs and I believe that all the fresh produce and mealworms really improves the quality too. Spoiling them is totally worth it.
If your coop, waterers and feeders are setup right it can be very little work as far as labor goes.

They are laying hens so they get quite a few years of happiness and freedom. :) As long as they are delivering eggs like this they get to keep living the good life. This thread is way off topic so I thought I would put in some Spydie content. :o

This thread keeps on giving, someone just gave us a free coop and we brought it home yesterday. Probably a couple months out from getting any bords but it's something my wife has wanted to do for a long time.
Predators are a concern. One of neighbors has chickens and has had trouble keeping them safe. I was curious about how much time they take as well, but the aquarium comments give me hope, I've kept planted freshwater tanks for years now.

Groupthink in action. The older I get, the more I see it. Not sure if it is more common these days or if I just notice it more now.Bodog wrote:They have nothing to do with spyderco knives at all. Spyderco content: Despite missteps, Spyderco remains my favorite cutlery brand. Even in my self imposed reduction in purchases, I still ordered a second Native 5 Maxamet as a rare (for me) backup.
