That fossil coral is quite possibly my favorite on you've made! Just when I wonder how you could conceivably top your current Kopas, you come along with something even more spectacular! Nice work there.

Wow Tony, that kopa might be my favorite one to this date. The texture on it is the best part to me.

Nice job once again! I'm glad to see that "Project Kopa" is still up and running. Any idea what it is that makes up the "Kaleidoscope" material?

thanks, they call it calico, it looks like it is just a bunch of different colored stones mixed with a resin.

Well i have been getting back into a little modding. I have had two major disappointments, one with a kopa and the other with an endura Coolilah burl which is still killing me because it was such a beautiful wood. like the saying goes, you win some and lose some. So following the last catastrophe I went into my drawer of wood and came up with this:

Curly Koa Kopa

I had a few pieces left over from Paul's kiwi that i modded for him and he was kind enough to let me keep them. The pics really don't let the chatoyancy come out. That was something else i received from Paul, a new word in my vocabulary :p . When you sand this at a high grit, there is almost a shimmering effect in the sunlight when you look at it from different angles. I tried something new this time with the knife, wet sanding. I didn't submerge the knife in water but the paper was i think it came out pretty nicely. I orignally had a mirror finish on the bolsters but i didnt think it went well with the scale so i went over the knife with some 1200 grit paper. I think there might be 1 or 2 more knives in the kopa line for my collection before i call it "quits" but i will try to go out with a bang :)

edit: the "birthmark" showed itself after some sanding but i kind of liked it so i didn't cut another piece. it isn't as noticeable in person. as far as the missing clipp goes. i have learned that the wood really soaks up the finish in the first month so i will keep applying some until then as needed and then put the clip back on.

I really love the carbon fiber and black micarta...those are beautiful. The desert iron wood is pretty sexy too. I wish i didn't miss the whole Copa craze.

Tony,
It is great to see that you are continue to mod. I love to see variety of handle materials. Thank you for sharing.

this is not too late. Prices on secondary market for most Kopas are about the same, which I paid at the time, when they came out.

Tony,
I went through the thread again and didn't find what happened with this knife. Is it still a secret?

Are you busy with something? :D :D
Just teach your son how to rescale Kopas and he will do something classy. May be orange, if he still loves the color. :)
