My suggestions are:
1) A Waved Atlantic Salt with SE.
2) A Waved Manix C95
3) An H1 Matriarch
What do y'all think?

An H1 Matriarch would be cool!

A VG-10 PE flat ground Dragonfly, with screw pivots would not only be a great forum knife, but also a much welcome improvement over the current model specs. Any color of FRN, as long as it is black, red, or foliage/OD green :D . Oh, and, BTW, a metal clip, although that might take some heavy redesign..
Yes, my first spydie was a SE Dragonfly... :)
... or an Endura

OTOH, a flat ground PE Endura, all else standard, would be sweet :) and easy to manufacture!

Is it time to start talking about the 2008 forums knife yet?

If there is going to be a 2007 forum knife it would need to be soon.
I like the idea of doing it using the new etched Dragonfly.

I'll second that one. Love the D'fly, and the VG-10 blade and etched handles are great modifications. The knife is already in production by Spyderco and all it would take is some laser etching of the blades. Whaddya say Sal and Kristi?

Realistic, and thus feasible candidates would be...
- Any current production model already in circulation with no change aside from forum engraving.
- Any models Spyderco knows are scheduled for production and is reasonably sure will be delivered to them by before Oct of this year, again with no "special features" other than the forum engraving.
Unrealistic choices would be...
- Current production model, but with a different handle color, blade color, blade steel, handle material, etc., or some yet unannouced resurection of a "golden oldie". Any of those would be a sprint run, and would require both too high a minimum quantity and too much lead time to be feasible.
- Brand new "concept model" still in "discussion" phase, for which even a "proto-plastic" probably does not yet exist. One needs look no further than the "Supertanker" Hawkbill to realize a realistic minimum time for something like that to hit the street is well over a year.
No, not at all. Fairly interesting and extremely rational one really. Feasible, different, not obscenely expensive, and, as you say, having the potential to be useful as well as decorative.
What is forum engraving?
If the forum knife were a normal production model minus the Boye Dent (or clip), would the maker still need a minimum batch size of 1200?
Assuming it were possible to agree on one small modification, which ones might be possible to combine with a standard run?

Forum engraving is a piece of text, usually "Spyderco Forum - 2007;
www.spyderco.com" engraved on the blade of the forum knife.
Any modification (no matter how small) requires retooling. It is true that a smaller modification requires less work, but it's still too expensive for short runs.

Aloha ALL,
I agree with J Smith. (wassup Knifebro!). The Dragonfly, since the first generation FRN version came out, has always been one of my favorite :spyder: !!!
Plus, Vampyrewolf's SS D' Fly is definite proof that this is one tough lil' bugger!
God bless and take care all :cool:

Anybody try ordering a knife through the SFO and request a special laser engraving of "Spyderco Forum - 2007;
www.spyderco.com"? :p

Any of the etched models, Dragonfly, Cricket, or Spin, would be a good choice. They are distinctive in that they are all new releases for 2007, and practical in that they are all regular production knives.

I'd hate to see the Spyderco Forum knife tradition die in 2007, so I'm hopeful that some official statement from The Company will be released soon!

I think you've picked a winner Jeff. Nice knife and the price would be right. I'm in.

Another vote for a Dragonfly, I've been thinking about getting one and a forum knife would be a bonus.
