The reason I asked about the Nancyl stuff was because some people have reported some brittleness in the C-Tek when working it down.
But, it looks good when finished properly.

I've never handled the C-Tek stuff, so have no experience with it.
I dont know, how their process or construction is either, but we have a carbon fiber backing.
We experienced no brittleness when working the scale material. Maybe the CF makes the block more stable to work with or maybe the brittleness is in other materials used.
Mere guesswork on my behalf, as we experienced no such problems.
(there were a hitch or two on the way, but no brittleness;-))

I think the brittleness comes from the cells.
The cells are made by using aluminum "cages". Any time the cage is cut, the material left MAY become un-attached from the cut cage walls, so care has to be taken when working with it (cutting, shaping, sanding, etc). Once it it is finished, it seems to be stable.
The material you are making is completely different and should be stronger.
But, not everyone has the stuff or the time to make their own.
This makes your Pingo a one of a kind, unless you decide to make another.
That makes it more interesting, at least to me.
With production materials, any project can be duplicated. Just depends on whether anyone else wants to do it.
I am modding a Pingo just for the fun of it, and having something to do. But, your Pingo is unique, and it's very nice, indeed.

That makes sense. I suppose, thats where the problem could be; when a honeycomb 'cage' or compartment is cut in half and the Nanocyl exposed.
We experienced no such problems, as mentioned.
Yes, my Pingo is one-of-a-kind. Fun to make and fun to use/own.

Hey everybody, thanks for the welcome.
I just got into knives about a month ago and needless to say the spyder bit me pretty good.
You've got a great community here, glad I can join in.

I did a quick job on this this morning and have not done a final finish. I may redo the clip side scale if I can't grind down a clip to fit what I milled. Sorry mill job, so I may just go with no clip and a kydex neck sheath, or order a 1/16" carbide end mill as a 1/8" is too large for the tight corners. Want that triangular shape on the clip, so may go that route and make a new scale.
Anyway, here is a Pingo with Toxic Green G-10 with black G-10 liners.
Put a new pivot in to allow use of the black "designer screws". Will order a set of SS instead, so that will be changed.
Also put on a thumb stud for easier one hand opening. Works very well.
A work in progress, but have too many other projects to finish up before getting back to this.

Ti pocket clip from usaknifemaker, fits nice and low on the pocket but my jeans have kind of a heavier fabric and the screws get snagged a little on the edge of the pocket.

I love the mods you do to militaries. Did you have to put that spacer under the clip to fit the screw?
