doesn't the lock release get in the way if you put your thumb on the top of the handle?

shark lock style knives don't work well for me due to that issue.

Amazing! I weighed it. I believe it was 4.2 oz which is crazy for a Hinderer. Thin in the pocket. Thin blade. The detent feels much stronger. Probably in part due to the lighter blade. I would say the detent is perfect. Frickin fantastic all around!

Should be hitting dealers around September.

I don't feel it at all. I have long thin fingers, wear an XL or XXL glove. The lock release falls right into the fleshy crevice between the thumb and forefinger. It's also not very tall, it's only a couple of mm higher than the part of the frame where the hand grips.

The only bad design is the clip placement. It's terrible. Everything else feels really good in hand

I'm really loving the Civivi Buster FG. This thing is an absolute tank. Awsome design, awsome ergos, the SuperLock is awsome. And the fit and finish is typical Civivi. That is to say, first rate. The G10 is very grippy. The lock up is rock solid with absolutely zero play in any direction. This is a steal at $97 MAP. Civivi could have charged $50 more and it still would have felt like a great buy. I highly recommend it for those who appreciate large, hard use folders.

Man, I was super excited when I saw that knife recently, then I looked at the specs. It is just a bit too big and a bit too thick for an edc for me. Would it be fun to have, absolutely, but it isn't practical enough for me to justify buying. The lock really interests me. I wonder what it looks like on the inside.

If they made a slightly smaller, thinner version of this, I'd be all over it. Very cool design.

Here's the inside of a Civivi Vision FG (same lock, only smaller). The idea is very similar to how a CBBL works. A coil spring forces the end of the lock tab between the tang and an anvil pin. You just can't see the coil spring on the Superlock until you open up the knife.

I feel like Snecx has this problem a fair bit in his designs. The clip placement on both versions of the Vision sucks too (especially the original WE version).

I finally found one of the infamous Ozark Trail D2 cross bar lock knives at my local WalMart. This is the first time that they've actually had one in stock, at least that I've seen. So I went ahead and got one. Why not, for $9.97 + tax? After all the hype on the internet, I wanted to experience one for my self.




And guess what? It feels like a cheap WalMart knife. Yes, it has a cross bar lock that appears to function. But the "detent" is super tight. And not in a good way. The action feels very unpleasant. And it appears to be running on ball bearings, but they feel gritty. The little nubs for the omega springs actually poke thru the liners into the inside of the knife (thankfully the blade does not hit them when closed)



The handle scales are cheap injection molded plastic. It has skeletonized steel liners and a reversible pocket clip. The blade and liners appear to have black paint as the coating. And its not very sharp out of the package. It's too soon to tell how good (or not good) the D2 steel is going to be. I may try to reprofile the edge and get it real sharp, then report back.

In summary: if all you had was $10 and you needed an EDC knife, you could do worse I suppose.

you could also do better. there's many brands that offer knives under $10, like MAM out of portugal https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/mam-o ... heepsfoot/ - I have one of those and the geometry blows away pretty much every other folder I own.

OT and swisstech knives are junk, there's better options at all their price points.

I've been going back and forth on whether or not to try one of these. I haven't bought a Kershaw in a long time. But this one is tempting.

The Bel Air has a pretty smooth action, a thin slicey blade, and it feels more solid than a stock BM Bugout. No complaints so far.

Kershaw recently added a micarta scale clip point variant to the Bel Air line.
