Yes, thanks for the reminder. Now we need to come up with a name, something like "medium." But something more interesting and catchy.vivi wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 10:25 pm14 years too late when it comes to the name

Re: What would be your dream knife?
A Magna-Max endura 4 (I love my K390 one, just wish it didn’t rust) or a spyderchef with a magna-cut or magna-max blade ground down to 0.010” BTE. The spyderchef is just about perfect for me aside from being a little thick behind the edge and not holding a crispy sharp edge as long as I would like.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
This one’s out in left field, but an Endela saber ground SE stainless is a knife I dream about. It’d be a beast! Like I said, I guy can dream.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
Post inspired by your dream :) :
Finally an Endela Salt with H2 sabre hollow grind would be great too (linerless like Pac Salt and Salt 2)
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)

Re: What would be your dream knife?
That would be nice too. But I have a thing for those heavy bladed stainless models. VG10 would be fine by me and probably not too much extra work to do. The other signature models all have this treatment.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
Subvert Sprint: same textured CF scales, S90V blade, maybe a steel lock interface, although I have never felt the need for one.

They are cool indeed!
And actually a though heavy, on the other hand still convenient carry due to being so thin.
Another thing I like about the ss models: The way the steel handle reacts to the surrounding temperature:
It might sound weird, but on cold days when taking an ss knife out of the warm pocket, in the first brief moments it almost feels and acts a bit as a "hand warmer" (sure this changes rapidly if one does more than one or two quick cuts!).
And the old SS Seki models actually came in a supernice sabre hollow grind - still "beasts" but imo clearly better cutters than the newer "just" sabre grind versions.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
Oh, no doubt better cutters. I still like the full sabre grinds even so. They’re still Spydercos, not sharpened crowbars. My experience is that they still cut pretty well, if not winning the ninja stakes for sliciest of blades.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
Perhaps Spyderco will begin developing a convex cutting edge. This will be a point of reconciliation for many points of view.
ps
Personally, all my knives are sharpened into a lens=convex.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
Welcome to the forum, Mark.
I am a convex edge guy. I prefer flat and saber grinds, convex and appleseed grinds. I see a place for hollow grinds but they do not appeal to me for practical or cosmetic blades. Welcome aboard.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
Thank you very much. Yes, the convex shape is a wonderful one. The most reliable profile for long-term use, even under rough use. I sharpen instruments exclusively by hand, without any equipment. I'm used to it after working as a violin maker for eight years. But not everyone can spend at least a couple of years of daily work, repeatedly honing various skills to master them perfectly. But until Spyderco sells systems for sharpening convex blades, people can use this method. Here's a fairly simple, inexpensive, and easy way to achieve this result. The video is in English - you need to specify it in the video settings.
In the future, I would really like Spyderco to produce its most popular knife models, including those with a convex sharpening.

I think the current Stretch 2 in k390 is it. So i guess my dream is just to make it cheaper.
A person walks into 101 Flavor Matter Separator shop and asks, "Hey, what happened to the other 27 flavors?" The person behind the bar replies, "They did not taste enough like iron for our licking. - ykspydiefan
Re: What would be your dream knife?
After some thinking, gripping, cutting, looking, I came up with the following - overall design of the Bodacious BUT: scaled up to about 4" (but only lengthwise), thinner blade stock and geometry (if the pointy Stretch 2 XL can handle 3mm, then the beautiful leaf of the Bodacious should be fine with 2,5 or even less), contoured and SLIGHTLY thicker handles with shorter finger guard (eg. like the AWT Bodacious scales), slimmer and titanium backspacer (but elongate it as far as the lock spring allows), deep carry pocket clip, lock either as-is compression or the button actuated compression. That would be totally awesome IMHO

Re: What would be your dream knife?
Right now with current availability of certain steels, I would like to see one of or even both; a 5" Police XL and/or a Manix 2 XXL in the MagnaMax steel with a really nice soft colored Sage green G10 scales in the rougher peel ply texture.
Now either of these or both would surely trip my trigger and most certainly get my money...

Re: What would be your dream knife?
Now that's an idea I could get behind! 4.5" blade or so, that'd be cool to see.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
Hi Mark. I hear you. I'm a Cabinet maker/Furniture maker by trade. I have been sharpening tools by hand for nearly 50 years. I would contend that almost anyone that sharpens by hand ends up with a convex edge, no matter how hard one tries to keep it perfectly flat. I see no problem with a slightly convex edge... especially on plane irons. I would think a convex edge on knives would increase longevity without decreasing cutting ability that anyone would really notice in every day use.Mark! wrote: ↑Thu Dec 18, 2025 10:20 pm
