I just OK'd the Leaf Jumper sample. Should we go another run with either, the Rock or Leaf Jumper, the blades will be lengthened a bit.

I know to a lot of people that wee bit of blade length seems trivial, but I'll buy another Rock Jumper just for that alone. I'm also interested in the Leaf Jumper as well, and still hopeful for the larger versions if they make it into production.

Mine has developed a good amount of up and down jiggle when opened, so much that I've considered sending it to Golden to see what they think of it. It doesn't bother me much but it feels like a lot for a relatively new knife, I haven't used this one nearly as much or hard as my Caribbeans.

I agree with the RJ being an awesome design but I am quite concerned about that up/down play. Do you have any news ? I just bought a serrated one and I am in love with the knife but I hate when they develop vertical rock... one of the reasons I am not a backlock fan...I wonder what Sal has to say about this....

P.S Did anyone else experience the same vertical rock with theirs ? ...

Still there, still a bit of a downer. To be fair though I also haven't really used this knife THAT much, so it may or may not also settle in a bit more in the lock engagement if that's the issue. I may just send it in for the sake of this thread to see what they say about it. I've only had one back lock with up and down play that was bad enough I thought it needed sent in, which was a Stretch, and they did deem that one defective. I'll update if I send it in.

NOT me, as you certainly know anyway...

This is another great example of how Sal and Spyderco actually listen(s) to their customers and those who love their knives, and sometimes make(s) "wishes come true" if it makes sense for them too.
As one of those who advocated strongly for a Rock-/Leafjumper with a bit more cutting edge, I am truly glad about the prospect of probably being able to get just that eventually!

And I truly believe this will be a "win win" in the end:
- I am pretty confident that those who already like the RJ / LJ in its current form won´t actually mind or even notice a few more mm of edge, while those who appreciate just that will get their an a bit more versatile version of the knife
- And I think that it actually could make sense for Spyderco from a sales perspective to offer a folder that focuses on "a lot of edge in a compact size". If one shares that or not: It IS listed as a slight con sometimes in comparisons that other brands offer more edge than comparable Spydies (like in Manix vs Griptilian, or Delica vs Minigriptilian...).

I could briefly try a Rockjumper, it actually felt practically blade play free...
Also interested what experiences others, who actually already own and use an RJ, have.

That (most times just) tiny bit of "Seki backlock lock rock" is to be expected I guess, but this never bothered me personally by any means.

Can't wait for the new Rock. Is it going to be labelled as CQI ? Just want to be sure since I allready bought a serrated one.

You would expect a certain amount of lock rock in a Rocks lock. It's Rock lock rock*

I'm late to the party on this one, but the Rockjumper is my best knife purchase of last year and maybe the last decade. Ergonomically it's every bit as good as its reputation. But, it's the quality of the knife that stands out the most. It is the smoothest backlock I have. Mine came from the factory with a perfectly ground bevel, very sharp, and with a great action that needed zero adjustments. It just feels great to use. As a longtime enthusiast, the Rockjumper sparks the same joy of getting my first Spyderco.

in case anyone cares, i spoke with someone from wisemencompany about the possibility of making a signet ring for the rockjumper and leafjumper. they said it's something they have considered, but it would be a while before it came to fruition, if it ever does. if that's something you'd also be interested in, you should maybe let them know there's a demand for it.
