Intentionally causing a fuss? Wrong approach in my opinion - unless you wanted it to take 5 pages and 3 days to resolve …
But peeing on the kumbaya fire before the 'smores were done? That is just wrong.

Dogs aren't known for their tact. I thought I was being pretty fair and restrained considering all things. I would have enjoyed the situation if I wasn't here to be honest. :)

Yup. If anybody gets one and is not happy with it then I'll be happy to provide you with some excellent substitute customer service, if ya know what I mean **nudge nudge wink wink***
I like the Techno, I like S30V, and I'd really like to get ahold of one of these.

I like the Techno, I like S30V, and I'd really like to get ahold of one of these.
Given that:
1. The Techno is not one of those perennially "out of stock" models
2. Kristi mentioned that there would not be another run until Fall 2015
There should be no issue getting your hands on one with a bit of effort. She mentioned having to update specs, so there must be enough of them out there to warrant this. And for a period of time, it seems that most Technos sold will be S30V Technos. I imagine that if you put in a call to several of your favorite dealers they'd be happy to notify you when these come in.

Hmmm... intentional sprint run? That would be OK with me, but I if I decide to finally get one of these little right-handed things, I would still rather have the XHP just because I only have one example of it, the brown Native :p
My take on this whole affair: If it happened to me and I wanted an answer I would have at least tried to ask the person or people who know, rather than try to cause a native uprising :D I would have called Spyderco--their phone is listed--and they have been very helpful and cooperative every time I've called them. The direct approach might have been quicker.
And as for peeing on the Kumbaya fire, please just aim away from the s'mores

:) I have a Slysz Bowie on the way, hope it's in XHP as advertised.
I CAN tell the difference between S30V and CTS XHP. For my usage XHP is far prefered to S30V. Actually, I even prefer VG10 to S30V.

I like both of those steels so I wouldn't bother with an exchange.

The retailer rang the wholesaler who went through the boxes and found only one in CTS XHP, but plenty of S30V versions.
I'm going to swap, only because I have knives in S30V and want to see the difference.

That's what I would do, also because I have more S30V already, but some people might like the S30V model because it's a rare oddity, except at your wholesaler's

Soooo.. the s30v variant is not very collectible, at least not according to the free market. Just picked one up on the bay in like new condition with box/paperwork and factory edge for $138. Maybe it would've caught more bids if the seller linked this thread. Didn't actually expect to be high bidder. Happy to pick one up at this price. To me, there's essentially no difference in performance with xhp.
