The brown PM2 will have S35VN blade steel.-F1 wrote:I can't remember what steel the Turd PM2 has, but I don't think there is a much better steel than M390/CTS-204P, unless you enter price into the discussion.

You may find some answers here: http://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?tit ... Variationssir_mike wrote:Which one came with the M390? Is that the blue one? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question but I am new to the Para 2's and just working on getting a few different colored ones.
Does anyone know where a list of run dates/amounts are at for these sprint run models of the Para 2's?
I can't reply from experience because I don't have my m390 Military yet but Ankerson has done lots of tests and ranks M390 right at the top. S30V, while still an excellent high end steel. 390 is just steel snob quality material.jronan2 wrote:I ordered one the other night. This seems like a decent price for a sprint run correct? How much better is this steel compared to s30v? The best steel I have so far in spydie's is s30v.
PS. It really sucks that I can't get the blue M390 from bento since they don't ship to NY.
Thanks for the link.. It will help!jabba359 wrote:You may find some answers here: http://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?tit ... Variations
Guessing - M390 is imported, the CTS steels are domestic - there might be a big difference. Or not, don't know.
-F1 wrote:I posted something to the effect that this knife shows how overpriced BBS was, but then I realized that I have no idea what the production costs of M390 vs. CTS-204P are, so I thought better of it. In any case, I've decided to pass on this one. (NTAC)
Very few knife dealers are shipping folders to NY right now. KnifeWorks seems to be shipping to NY, but that's unusual. eBay sellers probably don't know or don't care.jronan2 wrote:I ordered one the other night. I was going to mention this in my reply. Also, I remember a while back when Sal mentioned some quirks of the current steel industry and how some steel manufacturers are giving very good deals on new steels at the hopes of gaining some exposure. Spyderco is really helping everyone out by putting these new steels into knives.JNewell wrote:Guessing - M390 is imported, the CTS steels are domestic - there might be a big difference. I had planned on not ordering any of these because I already have the blue M390 sprint. Then this thread convinced me that I needed to get one of the green ones anyway. I went over to the Knife Works site and somehow ended up ordering two. Thanks a lot guys. From zero to one to two. You are all such enablers! :p
Only good reason I can think of for letting someone order more than 2, is for someone like Donut to order a couple for a forum member living outside the USA who couldn't get their order to go though (like chuck) if he also wants to order a couple for himself. I assume y'all worked out how to handle that, if that is the case :) .chuck_roxas45 wrote:Hehehe :pYou can thank me now.JNewell wrote:You mean I could do that? Get around the 2/customer limit, then scalp them on eBay for twice my money or more? That sounds like such a great idea!
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)
The smurf blue Para 2's were $179.95 from the very start of the preorders last year. The higher price is the main reason that there are still some left for sale at Bento Box. It will be interesting to compare the similar Bohler and Carpenter steels to tease out any differences between them.Prospero wrote:sir_mike, I don't know if there was a discount available for pre-ordering a Blue PM2 from Bento Box Shop but they are still listed as available/in stock for $179.95.
I am noticing this, but I have bought my spydies from a number of different places, and bought a bunch from amazon, with no issues. Kind of weird I can buy from a huge corporation like amazon but not somewhere like Bento.JNewell wrote:Very few knife dealers are shipping folders to NY right now. Amazon in many ways is just a classy version of eBay rather than a "huge corporation". Also, typicially large corporations offer things small shops can't. It's the direct result of having more people in their legal dept than Bento prob has in their entire company.
Regardless certain knives won't be available in your normal venues. The blue Para2 is an direct exclusive which means BB or a collector club knife in the few dealers who get them.

How come you dont have the brown millie in S35NV in that collection? or the Blue M390??Spook410 wrote:Let's see.. brown millie in CTS XHP, CF millie in M390, 2 green para's in CTS 204. That's $560 in pocketknives plus shipping so far this year. And it's only February. When are they going to stop offering stuff that's so hard to say 'no' to?
Is it possible to get the XHP still?
Doesn't exist, that's the not-yet-available Para2.sir_mike wrote:How come you dont have the brown millie in S35NV in that collection?
Assuming you mean the Military, yes, if you shop around, though it is discontinued and a little hard to find at rational prices.sir_mike wrote:Is it possible to get the XHP still?
I found a link for the s35nv brown one. Is this a good price (ie worth the money)?JNewell wrote:Doesn't exist, that's the not-yet-available Para2.
