It's here! Just informed the wife she bought me a birthday present. :D

Hair just flew off my arm as if terrified of Spydie sharpness.

Received my two. Came with a nice coat of oil, I am guessing the steel is not the most corrosion resistant?

I am interested to see how this steel performs. Has anyone out there had any experiences with CruWear? ... Ankerson...?
Cheers!

Rockcrawler, have you ever had a knife made of A2? How about 3V? It's closer to that than to 1095. Not as "stainless" as D2. It takes some watching but isn't as rusty as the super blue was.

I don't have trouble with any of them and keep them shiny, and not partially oxidized or patina-ed. Wipe downs with silicone cloths from the gun/sporting goods section of the big box store, or renn wax for long term storage ( not in the sheath!) and you should have no problems. If colored by acidic fruits a bit of use could help, or likewise metal polish can do it faster.

Enjoy. It's a tough, wear resistant steel both tougher and more wear resistant than D2.

Mine is slated for delivery today, and I've been thinking about patina myself.
I'll definitely try without, curious to see how it holds up.

I like the visual appeal of a patina, but I'm not terribly experienced with creating them myself. I'd much rather keep up with a silicone rag or some oil. I guess we'll see. I'm excited.

Both my Mules and an order of Tuf Clothes should be here this evening when I get home.

Dont have anything in A2 or 3V but tougher and more wear resistant than D2 with lower corrosion resistance sounds right up my alley! Thanks!

Hoppes silicon cloth and a tuff cloth at the ready.

Now to get some handles on this bad boy.
Cheers!

I believe I'm finally going to get the Christmas tree out of the house. (In tiny little pieces.) :D

I've switched jobs, so I no longer have a hardness tester at my disposal. But I didn't piss people off when I left, so I stopped in tonight after work and I have numbers off of one of mine.

I did a fresh check on calibration and tested 3 spots. Results were 62.1, 62.2 and 62.8 HRC. :) I'm excited for this one.

I just got mine today and put a set of Halpern handles on it, very nice. I noticed one of my Mules already had some spots the blade. I wiped it off with a Tuf Cloth and I think I'll just get to using it.

Nice knife.

These are perfect numbers. Right in Cruwares sweet spot for toughness and wear resistance. They hit the nail squarely on the head with this.

UPS just dropped off my MT12P mule today and I was so excited to open it. I noticed the same "spots" the were mentioned in a previous post (jackthedog). I wiped off the oil that was on the blade and the spost were still there. I don't know if this is a side effect of the second heat treat to make them the proper hardness or what. I am not saying I have a SERIOUS problem with it, however I would love Sal's take on this or even some other forum members. See pic.

It is nice razor Spydie sharp for me. Has some spots already yes, it is not a stainless steel, and we knew that.

That looks pretty much the same as mine. Like you said, it's not stainless, so it's to be expected.

I still think that these are not stain spots, because they follow a uniform pattern when viewed macro, but I could use a nice explanation :spyder:
