I bought a Manix 2 SE from an Amazon seller two weeks ago for $58. So I think that's a real deal. It's here in my work bag. Fabulous knife. The deal I bought, however, was only on the SE, not the PE.

I wonder if this has to do with the amazon spyderco price fluctuations in the morning. When I wake up every morning I check my amazon saved list to see what prices have changed and amazingly the Sage 1 dropped by about $20 and the grey Endura 4 dropped by about $6 (which is still about a 10% drop). These are Spyderco knives sold directly by Amazon. Maybe the prices changed because of this seller. Either way I got a Sage 1 from Amazon for $81. A few hours later I checked again and the price on the Sage 1 was back to normal. Also I'm not sure what the regular price for the Sage 3 is on Amazon but right now it's $90 which seems pretty good.

I noticed the Sage 1 price drop this morning. Considered getting it, but have recently bought a bunch of knives so I didn't. I don't think the "Seek Gear" discrepancies are related at all, really. I think Seek Gear simply sent Amazon a bogus pricing file.
I bought a Manix 2 SE last week for $58. I noticed IMMEDIATELY after I ordered it that the price had returned to about $70. But the order was completed and honored.

A lot of the vendors use formulas to set their price and part of the formula is based on other vendors' pricing. I may have posted this at the time, but there were two booksellers whose formulas kept their prices just above each other in the absence of any other vendors. They were the only two who had a particular book and their pricing formulas kept topping each other in an endless spiral. The price reached 13 million dollars before one of them reset the price.jroc wrote:I wonder if this has to do with the amazon spyderco price fluctuations in the morning. Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.
