That's awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. Any rough estimate on release dates for the ZDP and H1? I'll get an H1 for sure to add to my other H1 blades - Ladybug Salt, Salt1 and Pacific Salt. These are my favorite travel blades when going anywhere near the ocean (I visit Florida and the Caribbean at least once a year).

I'm definitely excited about these...although I'm not sure if I want to skip the black VG-10 and wait for a ZDP version. I really love the improved 50-50 choil on my G-10 dragonfly. Personally I like the swedge too..anyone know if the new FFG native will have a swedge?

Sounds great - a nice little locker at a reasonable price too :) I'd love one.

I disagree. I was among those hoping for screw-construction. In fact, the lack of screw construction is what has kept me from buying myself a Dragonfly all this time despite really liking the knife's design.

I know that there is the G10 option, but it's pricier than I think is warranted. And I'm a fan of black G10, not "spoilage green." :p

Any information on colors?
Thanks, Chris
Hi Chris,

We'll use British Racing Green for the ZDP-189 version. We'll use yellow for the Salt version.

More than likely I'll ask for opinions on colors when we begin shipping the black.

You're assuming the lack of liners means it will be pinned. The unlined FRN Matriarch Sprint used screws. The pins in the Salt series knives have been, or are being, replaced by screws but the knives remain unlined. The FRN UKPK is unlined and is all screw construction.

My understanding is that the Salt series will remain pinned with the exception of the pivot.

I have a few newer Pacific Salts and both the pivot and rocker bar pins have been replaced with screws.

Does it even matter if it's screw or pin construction? Since it's a one-piece FRN mold, you wouldn't be able to take it apart anyway. As long as the pivot uses a screw for tightening/loosening the blade, the rest shouldn't matter. Or am I missing something?
sal wrote:The final pieces will be one piece FRN, bi-directional texture, left / right tip up wire clip. Full flat grind on VG-10. We'll probably make some colors as out customers request.

Jabba, it's a personal preference. Even if the pivot is a screw, and the FRN is one piece, if the other parts cannot be removed, I simply don't care for the knife. I don't like the "it was assembled at the factory and that's that, forever" approach.

An "urban" model is as close as you could get.

The Urban is a really useful knife and terrific to use :D . I will be looking forward to the ZDP dragonfly though. This will be interesting.......

Good to see it wont get liners. I like it lightweight and all that.

I've used the AUS-8 model quite a bit now and I really do like it.
I've had a finch (byrd with more or less the same dimensions IIRC) in G10 with liners but that made the knife too heavy for me.
A dragonfly should be that lightweight sharp cutting instrument. One that doesnt need liners...

Just my 0.02 though.

I'll keep an eye peeled for a new D'fly in some kind of nice colour. Orange does indeed sound (and looks) good.

For me it's a no go unless it has a removable clip...i just won't carry anything with a molded clip. Sounds like an awesome knife in the works...can't wait to see the finished product.
