David Lowry wrote:I'm sorry but I have to say that this is ridiculous. It's not their job to come out with something that's OK in NYC. Everyone has turned into a sheeple mob since 9/11. Not being able to carry a knife on an airplane has done nothing. Imagine all the people that would/could do something if you could still carry a Spyderco Military on an airplane. If I had one with me on an airplane I would fight back like crazy. Now what will happen is that a terrorist will get something on board and we will have nothing. Great huh?
How about localities come up with better laws instead of anything that can be flicked. This pisses me off to no end.
I will continue to carry whatever I want and if they want to jail me for it over and over again, then so be it. I've never been to NYC and if this is how the laws are.....then I will never go.
People are getting dumb folks.
I'm with you all the way on this David... I say carry what you wish and you should be fine, as long as you are not acting foolish with your knife no one will know the better... I'm sure NYPD has much more to worry with than what kind of pocket knife/tool the everyday joe carries... But my option for you would for sure be the Caly 3 G10 or CF..

Agreed, I recently picked up a PE Caly3 and thats the one I would recommend as well. Beautiful knife.. also looks more like a gentlemen/general purpose knife and not a weapon.
I live in NYC and never had a problem carrying a SE Endura for 10+ years. I did receive comments though that it looked scary and intimidating. Again thats why I would recommend the Caly, the Endura and Delica especially with the spyderedge looks more "tactical" imo.

I live in Florida, a very knife friendly State. I used to feel secure in this fact. However, hold on to your hats and knives. The new administration is very weapon unfriendly. He is also surrounding himself with people of like mind. God help us all.

Without getting too political...
It's interesting, almost amusing, that anti "weapons" laws are perceived by most gun and knife owners as the product of "liberal" politics. Yet, if you ever read the testimony of those who spoke in favor of the laws that banned automatic knives and automatic weapons at the federal level, or those which banned automatic knives and severely restricted handgun ownership here in NY, the common denominator is racism. Hardly a point of view today's liberals would embrace.
Switchblades were perceived as being the weapon of choice black, Puerto Rican, and to a lesser extent Italian-American youth and feared for that reason. Both the National Firearms Act and New York's Sullivan law were primarily the result of fear of the Italian-American community.
For the record, for those who don't know me, I was probably as disappointed as anyone here about the outcome of November's elections.

I agree with you Deacon,If i understand I dun33,If the current administation had there way I believe they would try to impose a total ban on knive and firearms in every state, and if i am not totally mistaken this was tried before and they could not make it happen. There are too many knife and gun owners who would not give up there constitutional rights.

You guys are 100% right. There could never be a confiscation of guns or knives in this country but a CCW Permit is discretionary as are drivers licenses. These could be terminated with the stroke of a pen as could knife carry laws. I don't really believe this would happen no matter what party is in power but we should not fall asleep on the issue.

If they were to try a total ban the administration would be shooting there selves in the foot, that would put all the legitimate gun dealers, manufactures out of business and and the knife manufactures as well and more people out of work , and the lost tax revenues from all the sales,I dont think the president wants this on his head at a time like this with our economy the way it is now. I do agree with what your saying they could make it to where you had to have a CCW to include knife carry.

Again I agree, and I was speaking more from a gun perspective than knife which I should not do on this forum. My concern for this forum is the tightening of knife carry laws. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't this thread started by Garage Boy one of our :spyder: brothers, that is worried about being harassed by the restrictive NY carry laws? I enjoy such freedom here in Florida and I wish all fellow knife lovers could enjoy the same.

Guys, this thread is almost 2 years old... I'm sure the OP got the information he needed, let's not revive an ancient thread and turn it into a political discussion.
Closed.
