Byrd Pelican

I own two currently. Both are plain edge. Anyone think a slightly tweaked second version would be awesome like me?

I like the design as it is, but there's always room for improvement.
I'd say adding some jimping, slighty deeper finger grooves and backing up the ricasso a bit might spark up more interest in this model. If it's possible to move the clip up a little for a deeper carry it would be more pocket-friendly when reaching for other things than the knife. And allot of people, including myself, like a deep carry.

Hey Sal,
Just a few, make the tip a little pointer ( I guess leaning more to a wharnecliff style), a blade stop that prevents the very tip ( edge from contacting the backspacer), swedge towards the tip would be cool (think Crossbill) but not as extreme, and lose the holes in the handle.

A G10 version would probably appeal to a wider audience, but me personally if it has to be G10 I would prefer texture that is cut in to the G10 rather than peel ply. All my favorite G10 handled knives that have peel ply scales have been worn so that the texture it provided has now gone mostly.
I have a few knives that I have put Allen Putnam scales on that have the texture cut in to them, and They seem to be holding up better. Maybe some simple angled cuts would do the trick.

The Pelican is my favorite Byrd model, just would like to see a updated version.

I really like the stainless handled models,but I think G10 is what most people prefer.

And G-10 handles. :) This was one of the first mods I ever did and the first or many wharbyrds I made. I loved the PE rescue blades for that.

+1 for G-10, and I'm always partial to a full flat grind. :D
