Military Sprint Addiction

#1

Post by Fred S »

So I don't post much but counted my Militaries today and had to unburden my (usually) skinflint soul. I have 7, which is clearly ridiculous.
D2
S30V all Ti (no insert)
S90V
Cruwear
M390
M4
XHP

I'm hopeless (and still want the BG42)

Nah, you are not crazy. In fact, you NEED to get the 440V and ATS-34 variations too! :p

I know, don't remind me. I'm slightly less lustfull after the ATS 34's because all of mine are users and I seem to remember that the clip on some (maybe all) of the ATS 34's have the clip screws straight into the G10 and tend to pull out. I'm just the right height that a few times a year I hook a clip onto a strike plate of a door and bend the clip out to 90deg from the handle. I might cry if I did that and pulled the threads out.

I would like to get a Forum Military, a standard 440V, maybe a Ti with insert, possibly the orange, and a Fluted Ti. If I hit the lottery, I'd get every variation, and **** the expense

Hey Spydernut you ain't really wrong at all>> because even though those two steels are considered antiquated among steel junkies I still find both of those great blades in Spyderedge>> especiallly the 440V version. I truly wish I had both of those Military models in 440V and ATS-34 but only in Spyderedge.

By the way I love my XHP Military.

So far I haven't opened the partially serrated or fully serrated portion of Pandoras box, which is probably a good thing for the ol wallet. Also once I get one of the steel variations, I don't feel a burning desire for more in that flavor. You could spend a ton just rounding up all of the S30V variations. Not even sure how many that is, but at least 12 or 14

Ridiculous? I think not.

It's the older two-screw clip models you have to watch out for. The three screw clips go into the liner.

Ridiculous from the standpoint of need, rather than want.

It looks like I got a ways to go to catch up with Yab here.

One thing I really like about Yab's, is they look like they get some work. I use every one of mine, they are all scratched up and dirty handles, the whole bit.

Fred I certainly wouldn't call you hopeless. As Yab has clearly shown above, you have a long ways to go depending on perspective. I do like the variety you have in your collection, but it seems you are missing some teeth!

My last count (had more but they have gone onto better homes where they can see more use than I was able to give them)
S30V (Military logo, PE)
S30V (Military logo, SE)
440V (Military logo, SE)
S30V (CF, PE)
M390
Cruwear
XHP
BG-42

I still need a fluted Ti version and I think I will be happy..... until the K390 or S110V sprints come out, then all bets are off. At least you know here you are in good company.

I count 17 Millies in my collection, but still needing a few more to complete the series  . An addictive model for sure!

I think if a guy went all out, you would be looking at 35 to 40 Militaries if you had one of each. Looked on spydiewiki, and it has about 33, but I didn't see the lefty, and I don't know if it was in more than PE. Then you look at some of the color variation for the Ti fluted models and maybe the steel insert stuff and I think you hit 40 pretty close. Figure an average of $250 per and you got about $10K in your single model pig-sticker collection. I only get about $750 a year for knife budget, so its gonna be a while. Also you gotta find all the hard to gets, which is rough, and they are NOT $250 each

That being said, I was over on BF, and a Bento sprint went for 235 and a plain Jane S30V went for 89 today

Nope I don't see a problem at all.

I need to get my S30 Millie modified with some serrations so I have an excuse to get me a nice Sprint Millie.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.
