Dragonfly construction

#1

Post by hoshyoto »

I recently received a Superblue Dragonfly and have been carrying it on a regular basis. First, I have to say that I love this knife! I've been a fan of the Dragonfly for a couple years and this is the third version (g10/vg10, zdp189, superblue) that I have. This is easilly the sharpest out of the box of the three, and I had been amazed at how sharp the zdp 189 was before it.

Because I typically carry a larger knife as well (currently the Sage 1), I carry the Dragonfly in pocket as opposed to clipped. I removed the clip, but was wondering, can I remove the two screws that are used to attach the clip as well or are they integral to the construction of the knife?

Thanks,

Jeff

You can leave the screws out, I carry one like that all the time. The dragonfly handle is one piece.
I carry a serrated Robin2 at work, a Cara Cara Rescue 2 in the glove box, and a ZDP Dragonfly or Junior everywhere else. My PM2 sits on a shelf with a small assortment of Kershaws.
Waiting patiently for the Native 5 lightweight and the Lil' Temperance 2.

It is surprising how sharp Superblue will get.

I favor the stainless handle Dfly, wish a sprint steel came in that platform. I am probably alone in my preference. To quote Boris The Blade in "Snatch"..."weight is good. Weight is sign of reliability. If it does not work you can always hit him with it"

I have mine on my key chain. If you mount it to a large steel ring via a small ring which allows it to swivel you can put your little finger in the large for retention or like mini karambit

Sdedalus83,

Thanks for the info. I had thought that was the case, but I wanted to make sure before causing any undue stress on the knife.

Also, I'm 100% in agreement with ASmitty. Video reviews got me to try a Spyderco knife. The quality of the knife got me to become a fan. But it was the community on the forums and especially the participation of sal that turned me into a Spyderco collector and evangelist for the product.
