In a true emergency, could one "stake their life" on a Byrd Knife?

Discuss Spyderco's byrd knives.

Why not? People once used stone to survive. :p And Byrds are hardly stone...

"Stake your life" on it? More people have been killed with crappy steel old time slips then any "fancy" knives. You can stab, slash and slit with a Byrd all day long. Byrds are worth much more then they sell for. On deployments I always give Byrds to young Troops that didn't have a blade or have cheap PX junk.

Question really is why get into a situation that you only have one knife?
Always looking for the right one :)

I spoke with a guy in the UK that flipped his car. broke the windshield, but the plastic laminate in windshield kept him trapped. He said he cut his way out with a byrd "Crow".

I have two Byrds now a Cara Cara 2 and a Meadowlark 2......

I would stake my life with them as much as I would with an Endura or Delica....

We don't cut corners in design or construction of the byrds. The fact that they are made in China is what makes them less expensive.
