Hi, ronin203--

Nope, the Yojimbo isn't out yet. No reliable word on when it will be. . .estimates keep getting pushed back.

But stay tuned to this forum--I'm sure you'll hear about it here when it does finally hit the market!

I remember seeing a post from Sal saying Jan/Feb on BladeForums on a thread "Yojimbo status?".

Pardon me for asking if it has already been addressed, can I carry the Yojimbo Left and Right handed with Pocket Clip?

You can't have everything. And if you do, you're missing something.

MeJoomeok--

If you haven't checked out Michael Janich's site yet, you should. He's got articles and pictures of not only the Yojimbo (both the production version and a cool Mike Snody Prototype), but also several other of his designs/collaborations.

This link'll get you right to the Yojimbo page:

Enjoy!

Thank you. It is cool. I already have the Ronin and would like to get my hands on the Yojimbo. Concept is fantastic. If the Yojimbo cuts anything like the Ronin, like I said before, I'll get 2 Yojimbo.

What in the heck is this "Megarambit"? The "fricken" thing is impressive looking...

Vince, what do you carry?

"The original design called for a reversible clip, but the production version will be made for right-handed carry. Tip up, by the way."

I had hoped for a reversible clip, so that I could buy two, one for right hand carry and one for left hand carry.

Hmmm. If the the clip is only set for right-hand carry, I may have to pass on the Yojimbo. I had thought I would buy two or three. Maybe I can have a sheath made.

Hmmmm, rather poor planning if it is only RHS clip. Though, RHS clip in left hand pocket works well for a left hand edge-up draw.

To answer Mejoomeok's question, I carry a Native (the American version) as my primary carry. It's the only knife I like that I have a trainer version of currently (my friends at the Spyderco factory helped me out with that way-back-when). I use a stainless-steel-barrelled ballpoint pen as my 'weak-side' carry (and switch it to primary carry where knives and sticks aren't allowed). And speaking of sticks, I like to have a collapsible baton on me as well.

Have a great weekend, everybody,
Vince

Interesting. I carry a heavy duty pen in my left shirt pocket, the reasoning behind that is I can get at it easily when seated. It is another small argument for learning reverse grip, because a shirt pocket pen is going to come out in reverse grip.

Mr. V.

I, too have carried steel barreled ball point pens for my daily carry. I can you from experience that they work well - at least in the yawara capacity. Great minds...hey, maybe someone will market a cool "tactical" writing utensil. It'll have to be done in matte black or OD, but with that nifty pocket clip, it's sure to be a winner!

It was good to see you back in Novemer, Vince.

Be safe,

I thought I saw a post by Mr. Glesser on Bladeforums.com that the Yojimbo would be set up for left or right hand carry. Hmm??
Oh well.

Hey, Ethan--

Always fun to have you on board. You and Thane are great to train with, not to mention highly entertaining! (As a matter of fact, even when you're not there we tell stories about you guys to liven things up.)

Good training to you,
Vince

I saw a picture of the yojimbo in the 2004 catalog and it looked like it had a reversible clip. I sure would prefer it that way.

To all:

Thanks for your interest in the Yojimbo. I just returned from the SHOT Show and got the latest from Sal...

The last pilot run of the design was done a couple of weeks ago and subjected to break testing. Although the knife performed very well, it did not achieve MBC standards -- something absolutely necessary for this design. Sal thinks changing the liner material to a different type of stainless steel will do the trick, so that's the next step. Hopefully, that will happen soon and the change will achieve the standard. When I get an update, I'll make sure to pass it on to you all most ricky tick.

As for the clip, it will most definitely be reversible for left or right tip-up carry. That's a must.

If it helps any, I'm just as impatient as you guys are. Keep the faith.

Stay safe,

Thanks Mr. Janich, I don't know if it's possible for you to be as impatient as me though.

At 37 today, I still feel like a little kid waiting to open his presents. I just have to remind myself that I'm 37, and not 17, or 7, and that I've long since learned patience... so, I tell myself that whenever the Yojimbo is ready for final production is fine with me. Yeah right. LMAO

Our British cousins report tip fragilty with the Ronnin , I hope this is not carried over into the yojimbo . It would adversley effect its utilatarian functions , these are probably at least as important as the MBC aspects . Despite their cranio/rectally inverted laws , are pretty astute Gents .
