Handled Tatanka...

a most behemoth of a knife. Not that heavy for its size either. The blade is impressively ground and swedged, but the handle is so massive it dwarfs the Millie's handle. The powerlock seems like something that could find its way to other models and was not crazy hard to depress. My smaller than average hands looked silly holding it and to flick it would require much larger hands. Someone is going to love this though, size wise it is a lot like the big Cold Steel Voyagers. I received mine today. Wow. Very impressive (and massive)!

Mine was *very* sharp right out of the box. Even though knife is so large, I can still one-hand open and close it pretty easily. Mine came with a little note that cautions that even though the knife is large, it is not meant for chopping. And also warns to be careful closing the knife due to the size :).

The perspective in the above picture is a little off since the Szabo is in front, it looks as big as the Tatanka, but it is about 1/2" or 3/4" shorter closed, and the blade is about 1/2" shorter than the Tatanka. You could almost use a two-handed grip on the Tatanka like a baseball bat :).

It might not be the blade of choice for around the office, but I love mine, it is going to be fun using it out of the office.

How does one flick a lock back? I find that I can't overcome that spring tension. RIL, BBL and Frame Locks I have no problem flicking open.

I wonder how it carries? My K2 is close to hitting the bottom of my pocket. I think it's close to the biggest size I would carry even if out in the woods, thought I could maybe accept another 1/4" to 3/8" handle lenght if as slim as the K2. How much longer is the handle and how wide compared to the K2 when closed?

Don't know. Ain't a slicer with a blade 5.5mm thick at the middle of the blade. Ain't a chopper from the warning that it comes with. 9.2oz seems heavy too.

A defensive role, and or military/tactical carry. The long handle gives superb reach.
