A collection of Spyder-shots from RMNP

Hi everyone!

Here is a collection of (mostly Spyderco-related) photos from Rocky Mountain National Park. We camped in the park for two nights to photograph the elk and autumn scenery.

Knives accompanying me included the Cruwear Manix, S30V PM2, S90V Yojimbo 2, SB Stretch, and more.

These two were on me for most of the time:



Friday started out cold and foggy. The Cruwear Manix collected some droplets in an attempt to blend in with the dew-covered foliage.



The PM2's camo almost matched the lichen on this tree stump.



Heavy rain the night before made for picturesque reflections of the aspen.




The Manix decided to pose with some aspen leaves:

The SB Stretch joined the bunch for an elk-watching adventure.




Later in the day, the Yojimbo climbed to the top of this granite knob for a view of the valley.



It enjoyed perching on my camera lens to get a better view of the creek and meadow:

The Super Blue Stretch hung out with the ponderosa pines.




I brought the Bill Moran trailing point FB along to test it out. It slices well, and while batoning small kindling worked, the big stuff is best left to the Mud Mutt.

It was a great trip and a fun way to spend time in the wild with Spydies. I will finish with a quote from one of my personal heroes, Nessmuk:

For brick and mortar breed filth and crime,

Beautiful shots, GoldenSpydie. Just beautiful. We were fortunate to have visited the Rocky Mountain National Park last year during our family trip. I absolutely fell in love with the scenery, mountains, and wildlife out there. Ouray, Colorado was one of my favorite places during the trip. Sweet little town with some really nice folks. :)

Thanks for the great photos, GS. It's been far too long since I was out in the open spaces. I think my faves are the elk, easily pro quality, and, for some reason, the three knives hanging in the bush :) I also like the little stream with oat-like weeds, sage, or whatever, the shot of the reflection in the water in the road, the aspens, and, well, all the rest. Hope you'll keep these photo stories coming anytime you get a chance :D

Is there a story about the white (natural G-10?) bolster on the M2-XL? Or a link about it?

I'm not sure what you mean by a left handed elk, mikeh99...?

DougC-3: Thanks for the compliments. I made natural canvas scales for the C95 Manix, but the pieces I had were a little too small so I made natural G10 bolsters. I am very happy with the results, and it was a fun challenge to take on.
