Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
Very nice work, the regrind gives it compleetly other look. Love the fullflat and the clip point. Maybe Spyderco should consider this variation.

Nice work!
Light years better than "not bad". Turns a collection of fairly hideous gimmick grinds into something quite decent looking.

Yep, Paul summed it up pretty well. Those crazy grind knives just make me shake my head. Looks good now.

Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
Nice job! I like it better like this. :-)
Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
Not that I'm a huge fan of "chisel edged" blades I still do like the looks of them and find them a real challenge to sharpen properly. So with that said I'm sort of surprised that Spyderco hasn't introduced at least one folder or fixed blade that has a "chisel-edge".
I like knives that are difficult and/or challenging to sharpen and chisel edged blades are very tricky to get just right.
Also I've often wondered what the designers of single bevel blades think is advantageous of single bevel blades?

In this case "single bevel" doesn't equal to "chisel bevel", it's just as opposite to original "double bevel":)

Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
It looks very nice. Almost like a FFG C15!
Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
Always cool to see someone willing to customize a knife to their liking. I've never been a fan of any of the Terzuola collabs, but to each his own.

Blasphemy! :ptvenuto wrote:Always cool to see someone willing to customize a knife to their liking. I've never been a fan of any of the Terzuola collabs, but to each his own.
Just kidding. As you said, "to each his own." I personally love most of his collabs--especially the C15, C19, and Starmate (original).
Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
That is one awesome mod. Spyderco please contemplate this for production.

Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
OK Brother educate me a bit here would you :) Truly I thought that most chisel edged blades were single bevel? I used to have an old Timberline fixed blade, it was the SPECWAR model that was popular about 12 years ago or so>> and it was indeed a single bevel blade that you only sharpened from one side.zvir wrote:In this case "single bevel" doesn't equal to "chisel bevel", it's just as opposite to original "double bevel":)
Also I had another fixed blade knife made by BUCK of all companies. It was a titanium-nitride coated, model 119 fixed blade hunting knife that is super popular in it's original format>> and coated model was made to only be sharpened on one side. They quickly discontinued it because virtually everyone ignored them and sharpened it on both sides thus ruining the knife for all intent and purposes.
To me I've always considered something like the blade on a wood plane to be a single bevel edge? But what the heck I learn something new here at the forum all the time. So tell me where I'm missing it?
Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
For anyone who may not know... The knife posted is named the "Double Bevel" because of its double grind types. The OP modified it to FFG only, thereby turning the Double Bevel into the Single Bevel. But I bet the edge still has a bevel on both sides.
Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
Really good job on that. That version would be a great seller.

I handled a Double-Bevel at a dealer and loved everything about it except the tanto-blade shape. I'm digging what the OP did to his, looks great!

Re: Spyderco Single Bevel
Phenomenal rework of that blade!
Did you do the regrind yourself?
I am now heavily considering hang this done to a Double Bevel.
I love the size of the knife, but when it comes time for touch ups and sharpening I find the Amercanized tanto is a little bit of a pain...
