Spyderco/Farid K2
Re: Spyderco/Farid K2
Hey Jim,
I recall the re-ground 110v Manix2 was around 3,000 yards. Maybe I'm not in the ballpark though. Also, are you slicing with a particular part of the blade or is it a full-blade cut?
Regardless, that's an insane amount of cardboard. Kudos to the knife and more important: To your poor hand. :)

One part of the blade, about 1/2 of the blade, you can tell when the photos go up what part that is... :)
Re: Spyderco/Farid K2
After 5500 Ft of cardboard...
And it would still slice Phone Book Paper after.... Not easy, but it would do it....

I believe the S110V did 3800 ft around 1200 yards.Blerv wrote:Hey Jim,

I stopped at 3800 with the S110V blade, it would have cut a lot more..
This time with the K2 I cut until i ran out of cardboard, and I am out..... And it was 5500 ft.... It will still cut more....

Re: Spyderco/Farid K2
So Jim - how do you think it would do with a very fine edge?
I can't stop polishing my edges for some reason.

Well, I have tested CPM 10V with a polished edge before... It likes coarser edges better....WorkingEdge wrote:So Jim - how do you think it would do with a very fine edge?

Should do fine with a 1000 grit edge or so though.
Re: Spyderco/Farid K2
I would still say CPM S110V and CPM 10V perform quite similar.Yes the K2 cut around 45% more than the Manix but it also has got 1,47945 times more useable cutting edge.MacLaren wrote:Wow, the K2 had apprx 567 more yards....

They are actually really close from my own testing using like blades in the same hardness range, within 25% anyway..... That's close.....

I wonder what Phil, Cliff and Joe will say about the test they put the knife up to.

Your test brings to light the level of performance we are all facing with this knife.... despite the buying lockout I am facing, this may force me to reallocate funds from somewhere to land one of these in my stable. Thank you for your effort Jim.

Thanks, will have to wait and see how the other 3 fair once they start testing. :)
