Says in the Article that he was carrying a Spyderco... they were pretty specific in mentioning the type of knife, which is unusual for the news. All they generally care about is if it is a weapon. Sounds to me like he had a Delica.

My guess is, that the reporter in question just rewrote, what a security guard told them.

Picture a knifenut saying:
"...it was a Spyderco VG10, fully serrated...."
Thats just the way talk, dont we?

That is exactly the thought I had. Generally, with rare exceptions, you've got to be a knife enthusiast to give details like that.

Have you ever noticed, as a fellow knife lover, when alot of people talk about knives, they use vague terms, like "metal blade" or "stainless steel", without telling us what TYPE of stain-resistant steel it is, and such? I guess its part of being a knife enthusiast to be interested in those details :)

Example: I read a description of a knife for sale in an advertisement, and all the ad said was "blade made of fine quality stainless steel." Yeah...but what blend of stainless? Is it martensitic or austenitic or what? :)
