Glad you made it out. Thanks for sharing your story - I would never have thought that wearing a life vest on a boat could be dangerous in some situations. Very thought provoking.

Wow amazing story thanks for sharing. Definitely more to think about than the old "always wear a lifevest" mantra.

Glad you made it out!

My brother sailed from California to New Zealand and you can bet he had a couple spydercos on the boat (as well as the other stuff).

Thanks for sharing your story.

Welcome to the forum. Someone linked to your video a few weeks ago, so there is already a thread on this somewhere!

I watched the video a few weeks ago, it was great! My brother is at the United States Merchant Marine Academy and swears by the Manix 2 LW that used to be JShirley's and his Saver Salt.

Thank you for sharing! Glad to hear things worked out for the best.

Goes to show that the NUMBER ONE life-saving tool is a KNIFE... and, in a survival moment, it matters not what brand knife you chose to carry since whatever knife you happen to have on you during a crisis IS a survival knife! That said, a Spyderco knife with its Spyderco Trademark Round Hole is certainly THE knife to have on you in a situation such as yours... that thumb hole found on :spyder:s makes blade deployment SO sure and SO reliable! Thumb studs are nice... some are real good... but, I really like that Spyderco Trademark Round Hole... SO simple... SO efficient... SO effective!

Welcome, Rob. Glad y'all are okay.

Waterbug, you summed up the Spydie hole excellently! Best invention since Spydie sliced bread.
- best wishes, Jazz.

Steel choice is irrelevant at the end of the day, a tool works when it is there. You are now indebted for life :D
