Sal, Limited runs?

Hi Sal, or Joyce, or .....

When you have sprint runs or advertising runs it would be nice for the Forumites to get a little heads up. A lot of us are very anxious to buy the limited runs, but miss out because we don't hear about them until too late. Would it be possible to post a note about "limited run knife" now shipping on the Forums. Kind of a mini press release. We would all be grateful. We are addicts after all and we need our SpyderFix. As always, gleefully awaiting our new toys.

Edit: That's me agreeing with the op BTW.

I think there are usually enough for us if we know that they are available. Usually New Graham posts the new releases when they arrive, but if we know something is coming we can budget and plan for them.

spyderwa that's what the collectors club is for! They have a hard enough time keep that up to speed.

Don't get me wrong Christina, I know everybody at Spyderco is very busy. I love Spyderco knives, but Spyderco could do a better job supporting enthusiasts. The collectors club requires a significant monetary investment. I would join if I could afford it, but I have kids in college. I have suggested before that Spyderco should have a club more along the lines of the Buck Knife Club. The investment is a lot smaller. I am not sure how many hundreds or thousands of dollars it costs every year to buy every new knife that Spyderco makes, but a lot of people can't afford that. Spyderco spends a lot of time and effort administering the collectors club program and that is fine, but they are missing out on supporting a large group of people that love the knives, are willing to promote them, and like to buy them. At the minimum, all I am asking for is to have Joyce, or someone do a little press release on the website or forum saying that a knife is out and shipping, or soon to be coming. It is crazy when we have to hear from fellow forumites that New Graham, or whoever has a new black-handled whatever available for sale. As enthusiasts we are free advertising and Spyderco is failing to utilize a very enthusiastic group of people. As I said before, the collectoers club is fine for those that can afford it, but Spyderco is missing out on communicating with a large base of forumites gathered here that quickly fan out to stores and websites asking about new Spyderco knives available. There is no better advertising than customers coming into a store and asking about knives that they want to buy. When the purchasing manager hears about knife requests. I believe it can make a difference for Spyderco. This can be a win-win situation for everybody. I am not asking for advance "secret" information, just let us know if something is available so we can buy it.
Along the same lines of promotion, There are a lot of us that would gladly put a Spyderco sticker on our cars, or at our work. Promoting knives does not have to cost a lot. It does take communiction. We all love these knives, let us help promote them. I am sure that extra sales wouldn't hurt.
Rant and rave over. What do the rest of you think.
