I have the Lum with G-10 scales but I think most would choose the Titanium if price was not an issue. I went with G-10 because it was less expensive. It was actually my first knife with G-10 and is now one of my favorite handle materials.

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.
I asked the same question a couple of years ago. The advice was that if I wanted the knife for heavy use where the grip (such as under wet conditions) would be a concern then get the G-10 version. If, on the other hand, grip was not as great a concern then get the Ti handled version.
I wasn't planning on using mine in wet or slippery conditions so I went with the discontinued and harder to find Ti model.
I'm glad I purchased titanium handled version. It's a beautiful knife, solid as a rock and excellent fit and finish.
It (occasionally) rides in a custom made Gary Graley rear-cant belt sheath (below).

I like the smell of titanium in the morning.
Spyderco makes one of the best G-10 handles; however, for this guy it's ti. Smooth in the hand, hefty, and elegant--what more can I say?
Okay, how about the handle design gives me sufficient grip on the knife. The ti handle will make the knife slip into and out of your pocket much smoother than a G-10 handle would. Also, ti will cause less wear on your pocket. I hope this helps.

Check out Gary's website for more examples, plus some for the Chinook.

He's taking the winter off, but his work is worth waiting for. Plus, he's a great guy to deal with!

This may strike you, but I'd go for the G-10 one... If I'll pick for EDC. For collectable purposes, Ti - of course. ;0

I bought the G-10 on sale ( from SFO also know as this webpage <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) with black blade
CE. It really doesn't see the service the Merlin & SE Cricket do though. I'd say for carry G-10 is a better choice just as I consider it more rugged and "knock around" than the Ti Lum.
Either way ya' got a good knife.
