No I don't have a Dice, but I do have and use a Domino. I might get a Dice someday, but it's not too high on the list right now. My opinion about the Chubby is pretty much based on personal preferences about wide, stubby blades. But I'm sure it will be a high quality piece that many will enjoy.ManixFan wrote:Do you have a Dice? ......and if so then what makes you like the Techno over the Dice?

I can appreciate the obvious build quality of this knife even without touching it, but like many of you, I'm not eager to put that Chubby in my hand
. I will say that both the Techno and Dice were sleeper hits with me, only lovable and irreplaceable after carrying them and using them in earnest for a while. I bet the Chubby would yield that same reward.

Gino, if I could recommend just one knife above all others that you show try even though you don't like the looks of it, etc., it's the Dice! I just love that little thing. If you like the Domino, you really must give the Dice a try. Cheers, Radioactive :)gbelleh wrote:No I don't have a Dice, but I do have and use a Domino. Wow, with all the negative reactions I am thrilled. Even though it is regular production it looks like I will be able to score one easily because nobody wants one. All I know is I have wanted a Burch custom for close to 8 years and they have become increasingly more and more and MORE expensive. This at least allows me to sample a design at an affordable price. The images appear to point to a hollow grind, but I can't verify that.

Don't get me wrong, as my reaction isn't negative so much as it is ambivalent. Of all the designs he offers, this particular blade profile is probably my least favorite. It just seems a bit short. There are just a lot of new Spyderco knives coming up that will be competing for my $$$ and this one just doesn't jump out at me the same way some of the other designs do.xceptnl wrote:Wow, with all the negative reactions I am thrilled. I would also love to get a Burch custom, but looks like I've got about 4 years to save up the money, if his website is any indication:

Re: Spyderco Chubby
Hmmm...The Chubby has been out for a while now, and yet there seems to be little mention of it here on the forums. I've been thinking about getting one, but would like to hear some feedback on those of you that currently own one before I take the plunge.

My CHUB:

Very nice precise unsung Taichung.
Would love to see another collab with Burch, but with all the hesitation of purchases I think that will unfortunately be another disco and no more further opportunity. Seems to happen to MANY of the Spydies I love and value... ****.

Going back to Caly.
Re: Spyderco Chubby
I have the Chubby, and I do really like it a lot.
The one issue I have with it, the clip grabs really securely, so I have to struggle to get it out of my pocket if I clip it (right-rear pocket). Often I'll just carry it down in my pocket unclipped (especially since at work I never clip my knives to my pocket, too many sheeple, the only one I clip is a deep-carry Caly 3 or Caly 3.5 in waistband where the belt covers the clip).
I have avoided carrying my Chubby in a pocket with keys or anything else that might scratch the nice titanium.
I find it comfortable to hold and cut with. Kind of fun for a "different" knife.

Re: Spyderco Chubby
Thanks for the replies, SpeedHoles and Roodloos. Really appreciate the pics too! I am just surprised that this knife didn't make more of a "bang" out of the gate. I realize the blade profile probably doesn't appeal to some, but I am intrigued with its odd looks. (Hey, quirky looks is what brought me to Spyderco in the first place). :)
Re: Spyderco Chubby
Whats the street price on these?
Re: Spyderco Chubby
I typically gravitate to larger knives, but I kinda dig the blade shape. I have only two hang ups on the knife . One is the lack of lockbar insert and two I can't afford one! Otherwise I really like it.
Re: Spyderco Chubby
I love my chubby.this and the roady are my favs of the year.the chubby fits like a clove and the small fat blade is great for edc tasks.latly cause my hob I have had to go ti on all my knived.the ss they use on clips and liners are rusting in days in my pocket from sweat.all ti or nada.there is a guy on bladeforums selling great custom ti and aluminum scales for pm2 at a great price I hearb ff is outstanding.cant wait till a production pm2 comes in full ti .I can sell all of my other knives then cause perfection is found.

Re: Spyderco Chubby
I can testify to the outstanding quality of Casey Lynch's Ti PM2 scales endgame. They are milled to perfection and the tolerances as tight as Spyderco would have themselves. Can't wait for Spyderco's upcoming Ti PM2 too, a prototype of it sold in eBay a few months back. It was boootiful....
