Military from Earth

Was the Military issued to Astronauts?

Why is there "Earth" engraved on the blade?

What, you don't think visitors from other worlds buy souvenirs?

All kidding aside, someone asked about the "Earth" marking on the Mili a few months back in this thread over on the BF Spyderco forum.

Sal's answer was "It seemed like a good idea at the time."

For what it's worth, the Golden produced C41 FRN Natives also carry the Earth designation.

HI Revvie.

Acutally all of the Golden made product carries the "Earth" tag.

Golden is a bit far out and we didn't want to create any confusion?

It's sort of a trademark (I guess until someone copies it)?

It's really interesting that very few even notice it.

With Bush having plans to put the first man on Mars, we could try to make a Spydie the first knife on Mars. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

My Millie shows only the marking "Golden, Colorado over U. S. A." on the blade tang. No Earth.

I love this part of the Golden knives. I am kind of bummed that on my 6 day old Dodo, Earth and Colorado are wearing off already.

I love the Earth tag.IMO the laser should be set to burn the letters just a little deeper.May be some reason that this can't be done though.

My Mili is an older ATS34 version so it doesn't have the "Earth" label.

Conspiracy theorists contend that the Military is of such an advanced design that it must have been made through reverse engineering from alien technology. And, it has been suggested that the men in black (MIB) have directed Spyderco to label these knives with the made on "Earth" label to cover-up the existence of ETs. (I watch way too much SciFi channel shows).
